Once the engine was out, I looked down and was rather surprised to see that the bottom of the mounts were still in the engine bay. They tore off of the top mounts. *grumble grumble* On the plus side, I learned something. I had no idea that we had oil filled motor mounts! So, I ordered a set of urethane STI mounts and will modify them to fit.

For some reason, I just cant leave stuff stock
You will need the brackets from the SVX motor mounts. The metal part that the part with the rubber stuff bolts onto. What is done when using STi mounts is make a ~1/4" spacer of some kind, and slot the bolt holts a bit on the SVX brackets, and then use the actual mount part from the STi mounts. Get my meaning?

Yup. I know about the original brackets for proper mating to the engine. Im just not using the 1/4" spacer though, as for my application, lowering the engine would help a bit with the cars roll center. Every little bit helps.

My thoughts as well, but it will make the engine sit a bit funny.

On the Shelby 1000 they lowered the engine AND moved it back towards the firewall slightly.
I am going to do this on the Calli Project.

In all honesty, I looked in depth into relocating the engine/transmission back approx. 3" ala prodrive's WRC cars and a few track soobies. Its doable. Infact there are custom motor mounts available just for this purpose. As we all know, the SVX is remarkably nose heavy. However the fabrication involved, not to mention the custom axles with high misalignment cv joints make it really not worth the minor shift in balance.
A good rear spoiler would shift the c.o.g back enough to equal that of relocating the engine.

Couldn't tell you. A month later someone backed into my car and jacked my headlights all up. So they look like crap right now regardless. I've got another pair I'll be sorting out soon enough however and I don't see why they wouldn't hold up for at least a solid year.

You painted the manifold?

Must be nice having all the garage floor space. I have to share mine with someone who would birth screeching bovine if I were to place some heavy object in her spot.
