Inner Tie Rod Ends
I was putting on the snow tires today and did a quick front end inspection while the car was on the lift. I get a bit of play in the right front wheel, and a lot of play in the left front. Holding the outter tie rod end while someone else shook the wheel showed the outter to be fine, so it's the inner.
How much of a pain are those to change? I'll be tackling it in Jan/Feb, with the help of one of the mechanics at work, who is a front end and alignement specialist. I figure he should be able to get me through any tough spots, but are there any specific SVX things I should watch out for?

your should get the proper tool for removing and installing the inner tie rod. ebays got them for around 50 bux i think. you may want to invest in a boot as well, sometimes they dont want to come off willingly and even if they do they may deform causing popping noise when turning. And if you can afford it do both to save yourself another alignment in the near future.
oh yeah dont be suprised when you see power steering fluid in the boot. Ive done 4 sets of inner tie rods and every single time the racks were leaking. have a great day

Cool thanks guys.
Eric, I'm not worried about being short tools. The guy at work is a front end steering/suspension/alignement specialist, so he'll have everything I need. I'll have to buy him a case of beer to get him ti help, but that's money well spent. I'll probably go in for inners, outters, and boots. Preventative work, since everything is old and rusty. Are there any seals that I can do easily while I'm there?
