Sure look a Hell of a lot better than those boat anchors alongside 'em!! Nice work!! What's the weight difference?

Re: Headers are finally done.
good question I didn't even take the time to weigh them I only have a bathroom scale so I will check them and post it but both the Stainless ones together don't feel like they even weigh the amount of one of the stock manifolds.
I'll post the weights when I get them. |

Re: Headers are finally done.
Because stainless steel, or mild steel ceramic coated holds in the heat raising the speed of sound in the pipe causing better scavinging.

Re: Headers are finally done.
Sowise, those look really good, but is that just an asthetic upgrade or are there actual performance gains to be had? What did that run you (if you don't mind me asking) and who did the work? thanks.

Since nobody I have read about on the forums has made or dyno'd a set I can't say if there is any performance gains. You will definitely lighter weight. There are probably better design options out there that would guarantee improvements. I paid more since I had to have them custom made and it was a one of set, $750 for full design and fabrication plus materials. Now they are familiar and have the flange set up etc already worked up price may drop I don't know. Though I would invite any of you to check with the company I ordered them from and atleast view their website. The do have a cool kit for designing your own set ups. http://www.stainlessheaders.com/index.aspx |

Re: Headers are finally done.
what's the point, other than a few lbs?
you could of just gotten the OE exhaust "extrudehoned" for better flow. they aren't even equal length, let alone long enough to truly be headers. plus they lack an effective collector. tubular exhaust manifolds is more like it. http://headerdesign.com/extras/design.asp these are headers, an nice ones at that. http://www.flickr.com/photos/1049857...7603229734931/

There are alot of people here who just want options I don't care if this gets categorized with LED color changes or window tint which don't give you any gains either. There are a few people on this site that have spent alot of their own time and money to provide options both asthetic and performance gains. There are even more people who are waiting around saying they want something but not willing to take the time or spend the money because there is some risk involved. I have spent money on things that might work and found that they either required excessive modification or just wouldn't work but atleast I try to contribute. I am also learning as I go. |

Re: Headers are finally done.
I think they look excellent. Yes, there may be no performance gain, but dropping a few pounds from the heavy front end is a definite plus, and everyone likes a little undercar bling. My only concern might be giving some heat shielding to the surrounding parts (oil pan mainly), as those welded headers will radiate a lot of heat.
