Interesting SVX Styling Idea

First, let me preface this post by admitting that I am an 'Old Fart.'

This moring while adjusting the car cover on ALCYONE, my '92 Teal SVX, I noticed something for a split second which gave me an idea.
Crazy as it may sound, I think that the SVX would look really good with full wheel skirts on the rear wheels. It would give it that old school 'Turnpike Cruiser' look from the 1950s.
I intend to folow up on this idea by cutting out a piece of cardboard to fit into the rear wheelwell and painting it body color (teal in this case), but if any of you younger SVXers, who are much more fluent in 'computerese' could photoshop skirts on an SVX, that would be much appreciated.

Larry,
I'm sure many are right now googling fender skirt as they don't know what one is. Best way ever to hid a wheel on backwards!

Interesting idea. I bet it will either look really good or really bad. If you do the cardboard thing, take some pictures, I'm sure it will be interesting.

Ben,

My formative years for car styling (Studebaker bulletnose & Hawk series) were the 50's & early 60's, so I'm used to wheel skirts.

However, I'm not talking bubble skirts and I don't think that a full continental kit would work on and SVX.

Yeah I do have to admit having a slight affliction for Studs from that period. Thankfully it hasn't gotten worse and aside from a few searches it appears to be in remission.

Re: Interesting SVX Styling Idea

I always thought the SVX was a Japanese version if a Citroen SM. Both are close to the ultimate in Gran Touring cars:

Nice catch David! I always thought the SM was "other-worldly" in a Jane Fonda kind a' way. Now there is a rare bird!! A particularly nice example if I may add.

At the age of 16 a 1957 Golden Hawk was the first car I drove over 100 mph!

A family friend had one of those cars while in Scotland, I think it had a non----Citroen motor (V6) Maserati - 2.7L or 3.0L.
