Re: tranny or front diff??
I would think the answer would be obvious, but it has to be from an SVX. subframes vary between all cars.

Re: tranny or front diff??
I REALLY do not think it would fit, but I have never tried to fit an Impreza subframe to an SVX.

Re: tranny or front diff??
I wouldn't have called it obvious, either. There are some random bits and pieces on the car that are shared with others. Never know. And some other subarus shared rear subframes with other models.

Re: tranny or front diff??
No worries Nate! You confirmed what I suspected anyways. This will be a first for me on tranny swap and awd conversion for any vehicle. So I'm sure there will be another rediculuos question to come, I appologise for that in advance..
The tranmission I am looking to get for the swap is from a '04 wrx and has hydraulic lines. I will be for the most part going of Hucks instruction from our how to docs. But he states that its for a cable activated clutch fork, and says hydraulic is possible but more complicated as far as brake booster is concerned. So what needs to be done for hydraulic lines. How much more of a PITA are we talking?Any good pics or write ups you folks know of off the top? |

Re: tranny or front diff??
Several members have the hydraulic clutch setups, icingdeath88 for one Nate has done several of them to my knowledge I think it requires relocating the clutch booster to the right side of the brake booster because of the strut tower.

Re: tranny or front diff??
Ok, the pedals are kind of complicated. The right way to do them is to get a stock SVX brake pedal assembly, and the WRX brake/clutch pedal assembly and combine them together. It requires some welding. TomsSVX might be able to make you one. Or maybe Nate knows someone who can make them. I have a modified pedalset in my storage unit that Tom made, that I will try and get some pictures of one of these days.
Let me add that it really is important that the pedals be put together well. The first setup that I had was just a WRX pedalset with stuff cut away to fit, that didn't mount at enough points to the car, and eventually the clutch pedal broke altogether. (I had bought a whole swap kit from someone).
