Re: 6 mt

Here's what I did. Traced out the SVX auto plate gasket then traced out the WRX gasket plate, using the top/bottom alignment nipples to line them up. Cut out holes for WRX boot nipples/auto gasket bolt things. Cut off auto gasket nipples. Sandwich WRX rubber in between aluminum and auto gasket. Profit.

Re: 6 mt

Be warned....... Getting the boot sandwiched in there was a pita. Worth it though. I also need to dremel a bit off of the left side. It touches in first.

I'll snap some pics when I do some torque checks tomorrow.

Cabin noise is one of those personal preferences. I would say that it cuts down on the transmission noise, but some of the high pitched whine that you can get in certain gears really can't be blocked out. It does wonders for the road noise, though. I also need to put a dab of sealant where the reverse cable comes through to seal that as well. I also need to look at getting the heat shield back in there to see if it cuts down on some of the exhaust noise coming through. I'll see if i can get some decent in car video tomorrow.

Re: 6 mt

Here's a few pics of my rear shifter stay and clutch line. Working on the video.

I had my clutch line locally made. I should have had it made a little bit longer.

Re: 6 mt

3 videos in different car states. I find the noise level comfortable. It is not as loud as the video portrays.

Re: 6 mt

keep in mind that i don't have a shift boot yet. That will help to dampen the sound.

Re: 6 mt

Hi guys,

I didnt get the shifter rubber boot , so I decided to take a standard legacy 92 shift boot.

I used the original SVX shifter plate with another selfmade plate.

Then I used the legacy shift boot as a noise reducing boot and bolted it with the shifter plate. It covers 3/4 of the back part and the front part i covered with a plate surrounded with noise reduction tape.

At the end, I installed the leather shift boot and the shift knob.

Not driven yet, but after i switched through all gears it was more quiet than before. Tomorrow, I will do a test drive

Re: 6 mt

the street and transmission noise is almost gone. just little transmission whine @low rpm. very quiet at higher speed (>130kmh).
