Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Took the SVX out of hibernation today! And then made a complete tool of myself. The car started perfectly with a boost, let it idle for a few minutes and then drove to the gas station. As soon as I walked around to the pump I realized I'd forgotten my wallet. Then when I hopped back in the car I discovered the battery hadn't charged enough to start the car. ****.

Walked home (10 mins), got the Elantra and booster cables, boosted SVX and drove it home, walked back to gas station, drove Elantra home. I'll take it for a longer drive tomorrow and see if things charge up properly. If not the battery is under warranty.

It's so much fun driving the SVX again though. And quite tricky. I'm used to the Legacy now and the SVX drives extremely differently. Way more touchy throttle pedal compared to the Legacy, and also much more low end torque. All together it's a much different driving experience.

Earl posted a recommendation of a battery tender last year. I use it whenever I put one of mine on the sideline for a few weeks or more, and so far I like it too. Highly recommended: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FQBWCY/

Last touch for that futuristic look of svx . First I hated those but now I have really started to like those. And I dont think that cooling is issue at all.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Took the "Pearlie" to Vegas this weekend. First road trip in it since I bought it (three weeks ago). Drove like a dream! And 28 mpg!

Even better, got a brand new battery for free under warranty. I'll get a tender for next year though, unless I start the tear down in which case maintaining a battery will be irrelevant.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I noy mentioned the battery pack so it would have saved you a lot of driving and walking time. I keep one in my trunk.
Best $59 I spent in years.

Or the Battery Tender Plus

Best product I have ever used to keep my battery charged between drives.

And for jump starting anything, I keep this 900A Battery Pack in my car. I has started 3 totally dead cars in succession without missing a beat. During an emergency, this will keep your cellphone powered for weeks.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Bench tested my new double-din receiver and HKS CAMP configuration so I can listen to audio from my Zune while viewing the CAMP output all while the car is in motion.

Wow! And I thought I was the only one who still used a Zune! Do you have it hooked up through the AUX port or do you control it through the head unit?
