Welcome aboard...
for your 914 swap, You'll be better off getting an adapter plate and using the 914's transmission.

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hucks Right, But Instead Of That Old 914 Trans Use A G50 Transmission From An 1988 911 Since There Are The Smooth Shifting Transmission From Older 911s They Are Very Reliable For The Power Of A Eg33 Motor

Re: Every member please check in here!

my names drew from socal. I got my svx about 2 months ago. I found this site the day before I bought it so i could check for "issues". Been lurking ever since cuz i couldnt post for some reason. now i can hurray!

Red '95 L with 59,4xx miles. it has a few minor issues like a/c recharge, and power steering pump whines, but otherwise it's been good to me so far.

Also i seem to be averaging about 20 miles per gallon, and when my fuel light comes on and i fill it up, it only takes 16ish gallons. Normal? I thought i read these cars were supposed to have 18 gal tanks?

thanks in advance

Whew, 59k miles is really low. Make sure and register it on the list. AWD or FWD? If it's AWD, then 20 mpg isn't particularly bad. Low-normal. The gas light likes to come on kind of early is all. Not really a bad thing, keeps you from running out of gas.

Re: Every member please check in here!

it is FWD, i think this cuz it has the double XX in the vin.
It had 57,5xx on it when i bought it. it spent most of its life in hawaii before my buddy bought it at an auction. i paid $1550 for it!! around here people want that much for '89 accords with 250k on em.

anyway i think it needs a 60k tune up.(on account of 20mpg) other than new plugs/wires, maybe belts, what else should be done? the smart side of my brain says water pump timing belt also, but arent they buried under all the other accesories? so the cheap side of my brain says eff it, let it ride

anyone in orange county know a good subie mechanic? this is the land of hot cars. somebodys gotta know something

also when i figure out how to post pics you guys can check out my "awesome" custom hood scoops it came with

The water pump is relatively easy to get to and replace from the bottom. Not "burried" under all the accessories like you may think. The 60k mi. maint. would probably be a great idea.

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hey all,

Names Ian, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada... I just bought 4TUN81's SVX last tuesday. Had 119 252Km now has 121000Km (thats 75K miles). Shes an LSI AWD (very important in Edmonton) the first 1100miles in her have been impressive average 23.5 US mpg which is good my BMW 318ti only got about 26 under my control.

Mechanical inspection was flawless and now we'll see how she reacts to going from 4000 miles a year to 28000 miles........

Cheers.

Re: Every member please check in here!

Greeting to All!!!!

I've had "Izzy" for about 2 weeks now. The more I drive her the more I want to drive her. I got her off of craigslist from a garage in Maryland. I think she sat for a while though. She's got some chips and bumps and bruises and her wiper arms are rusted. Functional, but rusted. She got some dings on her side but I'm not too concerned about the cosmetics just yet. I'm working on getting all of the standard maintenance done first. I've been reading these forums since I got her. A lot of good stuff here indeed. I don't have any decent pics yet because I want to go over her with a clay bar and give her a good wax and polish. I already spoke to OT so I hope to get out to the Cumberland area by the end of August and have her looked at.

Here's some pics I took when I first got her.

Re: Every member please check in here!

finally got around to posting some pics of my SVX. Ive had it almost three months now. Its been great until this past week end when I found out the Fusible link has gone bad and my car wouldnt start(at first). but thats a story for another forum

it has an awesome custom hood scoop and vents, that the previous owner installed instead of fixing a dent in the rear quater.

red 95 L that will roll 60k this week. i'v got like 100 miles to go.

Nice car decline. The hood is not really my taste, but if you like it, at least remove that emblem and put an OEM instead (or even a JDM from planetsvx.com)

Take good care of it...

Re: Every member please check in here!

Hey. New here. I'll post some pics tomorrow I'm a somewhat new svx owner. I used to drive a '95 jetta 2.0 so this is quite a step up. Have a rebuilt tranny lookin into a cooler. Have a kenwood stereo with some pioneer 3ways up front. HIDs were a wonderful addition for night driving. My parents run a foreign and domestic service shop here in Warsaw, IN and I work there during summer breaks. I'm happy to join the community and look forward to getting to know you guys.
