Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Installed WiFi Reversing camera. Camera is installed above towbar connector low down on the car, and connects wirelessly to the iPod mounted in my dash.

Swapped around my power and manual buttons. Moved power button to the shifter and manual button to beneath the shifter. I imported the Manual button and 'Econ' badge parts from the U.K to get it aesthetically correct. Thanks to Shane Hobson for the leather shifter (mine was vinyl, and wouldnt take my Econ badge)

Installed a single Din drawer above my single din stereo. While I had my centre console apart I ran power and a cable from the Sub output on my stereo to under the passenger seat. Not sure if I am going to get an under seat sub, but the wiring is there for if I do.

Cleaned all exterior glass and applied Rain-X.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

While waiting for warm weather we have started assembly on the carpc. Temporarily powered it from an old PC power supply and have installed and updated Win7, which took forever.

Awaiting an internal USB hub, an FM tuner stick, a combined bluetooth/WIFI dongle and a right angle HDMI adapter from ebay.
Yet to be ordered is is the picoPSU that looks like the second photo

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Dropped my rear subframe so I can remove the tank and replace all the fuel/brake lines. Thinking about having this lovely thing powder coated a metallic charcoal.

I know it looks ugly, but the rust is cosmetic and not structural. Not yet at least.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Washed and waxed the car, right before the sky fell. Rain dance = successful. It's supposed to be nice, later in the week, so I'll take it out and drive it around some more. It felt like it was trying to misbehave a bit, coming home Saturday, so who knows what mood swing it's having.

I've also been on a parts ordering frenzy. So far, I'm up to $1,967 in 5-speed swap parts and accessories, and that doesn't include the transmission/diff etc. I try not to think about it too much. Be gone, pesky rational thought! The swap should be starting in about a month, depending on my shop's schedule.

I had this little gem made, for when the swap is done. Its a WC Lathe Works SS shift knob, in the burnt bronze finish. I figure the finish will match my interior, and windshield, pretty nicely.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I'll be using a gently used 08 WRX transmission (3.90 final drive) and associated parts. I've already bought the driveline out of said car, I'm just not allowed to say how much. It wasn't free, but it wasn't astronomically expensive, either. I like that it has the beefier 05+ legacy gears, though I'm not worried AT ALL about a stock SVX breaking a 5-speed.

Goods acquired so far:
-YT Pedal assembly
-Nate-built trans cross-member
-Exedy OEM replacement clutch w/ TOB
-VSS pro ABS speed signal converter (08+ transmissions don't have a VSS output)
-ECUtune 1av1/1v5 (for stalling issues and POWAHHHH! Lol)
-Group N motor/trans mounts & pitch stop
-Various OEM gaskets, bolts, and seals from dealer
-The spacetastic shift knob
-Kartboy shifter bushings (front and rear)
-Resurfaced 08 WRX flywheel
-Goodridge stainless clutch master cyl line
-Poly swaybar and diff bushings by Earthworm

I still need to do some finishing touches to the Crossmember, like enclose oem portion w/ sheet metal (not necessary, just for aesthetics), and have it powdercoated. I'll also pick up a bunch of Subaru extra-S gear oil, at the time of the swap. I can't wait!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

my 6 speed swap is going quite well but still in progress, I could not get a pedal set from YT so I had to fab one up which has taken longer then expected but right now all 3 pedals are in I replaced the head gaskets/timing belt/water pump and all the seals associated. I was able to get a 07 6 speed with less then 8k miles and the ACT light flywheel with it.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I typically don't post too much, mostly because it's just the same crap over and over, but Sunday I picked up another SVX which will be one of four I'll be purchasing in a two week span. I got home last night at 1am, tossed in a new water pump and timing belt and fired it up after sitting with a shot timing belt for 4+ years.

**also pulled the horribly failing driveshaft from the volvo wagon which will now operate with FWD for summer. That is, if spring ever gets here. Calling for another foot of snow on Wednesday.
