Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
This is exactly why I was asking if anyone has spoken with AMR about dual adjustable dampers. If you're looking to really fine tune the suspension you need to balance the bounce/rebound/spring stiffness of the suspension.
Cheers, Bill

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
Nice. I'm considering throwing a lot of money into the SVX instead of bying a second car. We need to see how it will work with two kids. Enter and exit is easy but with rearward seat for the youngest for 3 years, we need to make sure this solution will work (number one is over four and facing forward now).
Since noone has made "approved" coilovers for SVX (I evidently need documentation from an "independant laboratory" to have them approved) I need to chose carefully which struts I will go for and then start some sort of process to "legalise" the install. Yes it sounds and it is very beaurocratic and unfree. On the other hand, last year around only 140 died in traffic here. Not at least because you can't just do anything to your car. You win some and you lose some ![]() Anway, your description sounds very tempting! I wonder when we get some reports from people who drove the Ceikas and the AMR and Koni. Will be nice to hear if there's a consensus to what's better in terms of handling and comfort.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
I just got home from the Reading meet last night. I drove about 3,500 miles on the new AMR coilovers. I really like them. When I left Tom's, after the install, the struts were set on medium, right in the middle of soft and hard. It handled really well. Very responsive. I drove it like that to Houston. There, I set them to the softest setting for the rest of the trip back to CA. Very comfortable for leisurely driving. Now that I'm home, I want to give them a try on the hardest setting and see how that goes. I'll probably end up leaving them at the medium setting, as that's where I really liked the feel of them when they were first installed.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
That should be enough of a road test for anyone. How easy was it to change the coilover settings "on the road"? How many settings are there?
Seems like varied road conditions, terrain and temperatures would be a real life test. .

Adjusting the fronts is easy. Just remove the tower caps and put the key in the strut top and turn. The backs are a little time consuming because you need to remove the rear deck (where the speakers are) to get to the strut tops. There are eight clicks between soft and hard. So far I've had them at 1 and 4. I like the 4 setting. Firm and sporty without being too stiff! ![]()

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
Thought I'd chime in here to say I ordered a set from Andy at AMR last week. He has been very friendly, informative and responsive.
I too have been looking at a lot of suspension options over the years. I nearly bought STi coilovers and did the fabrication like another member has done on here. Thankfully, my patience has paid off and I should be receiving my set with camber plates at 450/350 in about 4 weeks! For background on my car, I've done the 5spd swap from a WRX, ACT Stage 1 clutch, EcuTune Stage 1 chip, 17" BBS RKs wrapped in BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2's at 245/40/17, Slotted+cryo'd rotors with Hawk HPS pads and SS lines, and custom header back exhaust. This should help the car feel more complete, but probably amplify other weaknesses. hahaha Thanks a TON to those who have been working on getting this setup for us members!!!!! We all know how difficult it is to find quality performance parts for our cars and now to have this coilover manufacturer, AMR, (with such a pedigree) to create bolt-on options for us, is truly beyond amazing. Now, I am sure I'll want to get her corner balanced and get an upgraded rear swaybar along with bushings. Can anyone offer me direction to sources for adjustable endlinks and rear sway bars? Noah |

If not dayle at Motorsport warehouse has started carrying the rear bars, I think you need to source the endlinks somewhere else though, again try to get ahold of nevin on the endlinks. |

Nevins bar is the only good option here.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
If you needed an easy way of adjusting the rears, then why not leave holes in the rear tray (fit some rubber caps to cover holes) - I am assuming that the speakers are not in the way...
That way you can setup without the hassle of driving around with the seats/side linings all missing untill you are happy with the setup (then have to do it again as things settle or you change your mind?). |

Or maybe put the holes in the panel behind the seat on either side. The seats would hide the access hole, then you'd only need to flip the seats down to adjust.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
No the rear tray slides in from the front it actually does not have any screws in it that hold it down. after removing the panels on the sides you can pull the full panel forward to remove it.

Re: Just ordered my new AMR Engineering Coilovers
There should be screws in the rear tray (yours must be missing)
Finished installing mine yesterday. The only issue I ran into was that the front brakeline hose screw hole was too small. Had to drill the hole bigger. Impression of the drive... it is a little stiff. I have it set to half way. I will definitely go softer (Interior is still out of car) I may even go with a lower spring rate. But I love the feel of the stiffness... just not that stiff. |
