trying to diagnose a weird vibrating noise ,
thought it was something in the gearbox
booked it into a trans shop ,
got half way there

,
and CLUNK , TING THUD TING THUD TING THUD TING THUD

called the nrma (australian AAA)
luckily it happened literally a mile and a half from my dads house

got it towed back (on a full size trailer )
jacked it up and had a look underneath it
the front uni joint snapped its way out of the uni holdy bit

MUCH cleaner. Ask nate. I spend a whole night moving stuff back and forth between the garage and the storage room. Made a nice little work area. Actually it's quickly filling up with stuff again.

I just finished removing the intake manifold. I left the throttle body on. Took about 3 hours total. It's not that bad with the right tools. The only issue I had was removing those damn plugs (fuel injector harness & the main wiring harness) from the brackets. I found extra hoses laying on top of the engine, broken hoses that were taped up and a missing hose with a broken nipple on the solenoid valve. This is probably the only time I'm doing this, so I'm replacing all the hoses. Everything is hard a brittle. Total cost with the solenoid is around $185. Thanks for the "how to" document!

did you replace the fuel rail o-rings also? there's 3 total

Actually, the 3 hours was to remove it only. Yes, I did order three O-rings. I was unable to remove the short fuel hose on the passenger side, so I remove the pressure regulator, The O-ring for the pressure regulator is part number 16699AA000.

I need to do this sometime. I'm pretty sure it's never been done on mine.

If you do make sure you have plenty of vac hose as the original is quite brittle after all the years.

20ft was enough for me to do all the intake tubes, the washer tubes, and the cruise control lines.

Clean the inside of the manifold with a lot of carb cleaner and clean the passages well. Also degrease the top of the motor to clean it while its off

How about the cavities (openings) where the fuel injecters/lifters are? Or should I do the seafoam stuff after all is reconnected?

Dont dump anything in those. Wait till everythings back on and then sea foam it.
