Re: Its Finally Time, and looking for tips
Water pump. Get an OEM water pump. Timing belt and idler pulleys get off Ebay. Vac lines I'd get some bulk silicone vac line from Ebay, since it's pretty cheap. 1/8" and 3/8" ID if I remember correctly.

Re: Its Finally Time, and looking for tips
Ok, it seems I cannot rebuilt the engine in my 96 with my budget, because the head gasket break allowed water to run back into one cylinder, and caused a nice big pit. So, I am going to take the engine from Yori, my 92, and put it into my 96. Now... I have a question for anyone who may know. Is there anything I have to swap out, etc, to get my 92 engine, to work on the 96 ODBII ECU? Or am I going to have no problem at all just slapping it into my 96? Thanks in Advance for any advice!

Re: Its Finally Time, and looking for tips
Roger, the only real difference is the addition of the EGR temp sensor on 94+ engines as well as the relocation of a solenoid from under the intake manifold to the strut tower on OBD2 cars (96+97), so the best bet will simply be to swap intake manifolds and upper engine harness from the 96 engine to the 92 engine. These are the only differences.
Also, to note, don't throw oout that engine block. It can be bored and fitted with oversized pistons, rings, head gaskets, etc and still be usable. Someone planning a complete teardown could be interested. |

I will, after this, have the engine parts from the 96 engine, and the shell from the 92. Quote:
P.S. I am sorry I haven't called you over to help, when it happened, it was a rush deal in the since of me getting pulled in a million directions at once. We will be starting on the swap Sunday if you want to come over, help out, or just hang out with the crew

Re: Its Finally Time, and looking for tips
Yesterday we finally got the car running, after all the bad weather stopping us, she is finally running again!
I will say, using Impreza 1.8L Motor Mounts are a PITA, but they do work if you can wedge them in there. The engine sits a little farther forward and up, but not too much. While that engine was in the 92, it didn't run the greatest, but now that its in the 96, and all the vacuum lines are replaced, she purrs. The trans also shifts great for sitting so long, nice and smooth shifts. The tires need some work, but I expected that. However..... Now I either have a Power Steering Line, or the rack itself, is leaking on the exhaust, and she smokes like crazy. So that will be the next thing I try to track down. But, at least Calista is back on the road again. I also started a thread for parting out Yori, see signature
