Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
Torque Converter installed!
One of the locating dowels for my transmission is MIA. I believe it was most likely not there after the shop I had replace my transmission did the swap. Probably not their fault, the tranny probably was missing it when I bought it. Kind of a shame they didn't notice, though. So, once that gets in my hands (have one pending in florida, but I will try the dealer tomorrow and see what they say) and my parts are here from 1stsubaruparts.com I will be able to start the car up. Engine is in the air right now, I may put it back on the stand later just to be safe. All I have to do is push the car in the garage, drop the engine in, some quick nuts and bolts, and a few hoses later she will be running. Royal Purple 5w-30 Mobil1 Oil Filter... just in case anyone cares. Took a pic of the engine on the chain. ![]()

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
Looks badass dude. What was the p/n for those blue silicone lines?
I'm excited for you. You must feel like I did right before I got my 6-speed swap done ![]()

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
How much hose is it? and where did you buy it? if that is enough hose to replace all the vac lines on the car that is more then reasonable.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
It was plenty of hose. More than needed to get all of the vac lines under the intake. The part number I posted turns up nothing on a search of their website. I am digging around to find the part number.

3/16" / 4mm x 10', 1/4" / 6mm x 5', 1/3" / 10mm x 2'.
The part number is correct up above. They must not carry it anymore. But the contents are listed above.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
Sucks that they don't sell that set anymore. Thanks though. Do they have a kit with some excess hose maybe? Wouldn't mind some extra, could come in handy. What do you think vs the kit that Dayle sells? Doesn't johnybeas sell one too?
I'm really itching to see this thing running. Long time in the making and done about as right as it can be. Wish you had just bought an extra engine to work on and kept the car on the road?

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
There are a lot of things that I would have done differently, but I never would have known with out doing things the way I did. However, the head gaskets were gone on this car, and I didn't want to do a reseal, then a rebuild, and worry about selling the reseal...

Cam, Awesome stuff. Thank you so much for taking the trouble of updating the thread with so much detail.
How much have you spent so far on the rebuild? Thanks Hari |

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
Talk like that is exactly what's keeping me too smart to dive in to my own build.

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
Started the engine up tonight. For the 5-10 seconds she ran, it was amazing. I am very happy with the sound the engine made. Until I suddenly lost oil pressure and had about 2 quarts of oil dump onto my garage floor.
![]() Took all the timing components off, including timing cover, belt, a few pulleys and the tensioner. All the front seals looked perfectly fine, so I was confused. I figured I had lost a front main seal. After deciding how to track down the oil leak, I took a friends air compressor and hooked it to the bottom plug on the oil pump. Sprayed air inside which allowed me to track down the source of the leak. It was the top driver side of the oil pump. All the oil on the engine was consistent with this point of exit, so I decided to drive on. I reinstalled the oil pump after recleaning it and reapplying the silicone. Tomorrow after work I am going to reinstall the timing components, and refill her with fluids. With any luck, she will be running like a champ in no time. Did I mention how good the car sounded?v ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: 11:1 Engine Rebuild
Shes running strong and fluid-tight. Have not gotten her on the street yet, though. Still need to do my first oil change. I will get her licensed tomorrow. I could probably get an HD video with good audio in about two weeks.
She sounds very smooth. I am extremely happy with the outcome. Can't wait to give her a run on the ol' butt dyno. Now i just need to do my 2v7 swap and she will RIP!
