Re: Front Axle removal and lots other questions
Jacking the car up enough to unload the weight a bit but still leave enough tire on the ground to keep it from turning can't be too bad, can it?
Anyway, with the opposite tire on the ground the diff will keep the other wheel from turning. Is it bad for the front diff to take the abuse of breaking the axle nut loose?

Re: Front Axle removal and lots other questions
It sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm. You mention a remote starter, that is not stock on any SVX. Also you're in Canada, Canadian SVX didn't have the stock alarm/unlock.
Look up under the dash for wiring that doesn't look like stock and follow it to a box that doesn't look stock. Sometimes there are relays in the alarm box that you can hear clicking when you press the button.

Are you referring to HIR Bulbs? That's Halogen Infrared Reflection technology, and designations are 9012 (dims) and 9011 (hi-beams). I u/s the Toshiba bulbs are the way to go. Ron (NeedForSpeed) and I will be installing some this week. They're highly recommended by Daniel Stern at http://www.danielsternlighting.com/ a very knowkedgeable source of info who will also give you all the reasons not to use "retrofit HIDs". Here is another good source we've used in the past: http://store.candlepower.com/hirlighting.html If this isn't what you're looking for, my apologies, Glenn

Re: Front Axle removal and lots other questions
Thanks, Glenn
Looks like some great information there. My HID lo beam opened up a new world for me but I meet some folks, usually the big pickup types with headlights that are mounted at the same altitude that my head is mounted that think my single lo beams are high beams. Think maybe they just notice the color. I just need a great hi beam to give a quick flash when they turn their highs on in my face... sort of a warning of what is to come if they don't get off it. Strangely, cars do not think that my HID lo's are high beams Does the 9011 fit right in?? Thanks again, Keith |

Re: Front Axle removal and lots other questions
Actually a small amount from one of the mounting tabs has to be removed, using a blade or dremel wheel. I could see you using the 9011's for brights, and they're supposed to far outlast any other bulb used for that duty.
AND, Apologies to Urabus for the thread high-jack. Mea Culpa! Glenn
