Hey guys, I just started coming to this site. i've had my pearly white for almost a year now. bought her with 87k, she now has 96k. daily driver. she is my first car, and an awesome first car, i must say. :]

i replaced the entire cooling system 3 days after i bought it because it over heated.
(water pump, timing belt, all 4 idler pulleys, timing belt cover, radiator, random seals and fluids, etc.)
i also have an after market transmission cooler on it.
replaced a broken ignition coil about 4 months ago ($45)
she is in the shop as i write this getting her wheel bearings replaced, and getting new brakes.
new speakers are being put in this weekend.
i have a direct ipod plug in into the factory radio
i'll post pictures of the hookup if you guys request it

a friend of mine did from my church.
he's in his 50's, and is an electrical engineer.
he owned a really popular recording studio in pittsburgh back in the day.
he was able to find schematics from a 1992 legacy radio.
we just hooked up left, right, ground, and a switch to the DIN in the back of the cassette player. when i want the radio, or cassette, i just hit the switch.
i'll put pictures up soon!
the whole thing cost me around $5. can't beat that.

hi, im a disgruntled owner who cant seem to find a reason to keep loving my svx. reasons are as follows: replaced engine after timing belt came off cause it was cost effective due to the sensors, gaskets, alternator, starter, and other replaced parts and over 250k miles. bought and had certified installed a jdm 40k miles motor and kept us emissions (obviously)

Good thing is there are no check engine lights anymore, however, there doesnt seem to be nearly as much pickup and go!?!?. in addition there is the hard to start, it takes twenty min of running b 4 drive otherwise it will stall. sometimes it stalls while im driving!?!?! (this has been a problem day one to presnt)
Tires are a pain to find cheep so i replaced with all used ones and two have slow leaks and all are now dryroting. I cant find an insurance company that will pay out more than $2500 if in the unfourtionate case it gets totaled.

All in all, i have a complete (down to the functional svx pen light) fully stock, excelent cosmetic cond svx with two flats, less than exciting performance that is uninsurred sitting infront of my house collecting dirt.

I am so mad that after all that i do there is always more and i cant win and all i want to do is drive it and be happy. Im not rich! if I were, i wouldnt have this problem, all would be fixed. My wife says problems are challenges and sweeter is the juice of labor. I want to get rid of it but i cant cause i have this crazy idea that im so close to having a reliable car. Ive been having that same crazy idea for three years and over 3k out of my walet. Well, all i need now is two tires, and a sensor of some sort and insurance....then whats next that will be a killjoy to my dream????

ps, the only reason i havnt been saying anything is cause ive had nothing nice to say about my svx, like mama always said.

This is usually a MAF.
Mass Air Flow.
A five minute fix.

Howard here..I am on my 3rd SVX since 2004..My present one, 1995 L, is giving me greif due to reluctent cold weather starting problems..the fans stay on and it will not jump to life when the temp is cooler than 70 deg.F...I am still working on the cause and repair...

when i done the timing belt on my celica, i had the timing off a little bit and it had no get up and go and was hard to start. Put a timing light on it and got it set right and now its same as it always was. Maybe your timing is off a bit.

I am only on once every one to two weeks. I don't post a lot but when I get a real job I will be on more as a dump money into the SVX.

He is in fact. His car makes me drool, as we get together occasionally with the Subaru Owners Club of Manitoba (SOCOM). His exhaust with the stick shift does a wonderful job showing off the SVX.

As for the code above: I knew it was the knock sensor, but it it only came on when I was very low on gas and it was quite cool out once. I've reset the CEL, and it hasn't acted up, knocked, or come back on since. I'll have to see how long I can go before paying to get them changed (my hands are way too big, and I don't have the flex 12mm around).
