Kevin Black dies
OK all you Radio Hauraki fans -
http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/top-sto...in-black-dies/ Also his car is the Black one that NUTSHL (Ian) was trying to sell earlier in the year (I think that Shane bought Ians other 4WS car?). Sad day for Radio, I met Kevin in the 1970s when I used to be a Scout Leader for Hauraki Scouts here in Auckland, we visited the radio station a couple of times (after Radio Hauraki were no-longer Radio Pirates at sea!!). Ian that car may now be worth even more....... |

Re: Kevin Black dies
The black SVX that Ian had is now parked in my paddock.
Apparently blown transmission and pretty scruffy. Probably not going back on the road again. Shame. |

Re: Kevin Black dies
Shane,
Pity about that - it was the one that I got the rear fan ioniser from for NZ$100. I asked Ian if he would consider selling the car to me - but he wanted both SVXs going to the same home, I also asked him if he wanted all the parts put back as I had found them - he said no, he had someone else coming round to buy some parts from it and he would find the time to tidy it up afterwards.....guess that never happened. Did you get the other SVX (4WS) that had plate number NUTSHL (Ians company is called Nutshell). http://tuff-as-nuts.com/ If you are starting to strip the Back SVX then I am looking for 2 of the larger rubber bungs that are located in the boot (think they are located over the main rails either side), I will PM you with a photo of the position. thanks |

Re: Kevin Black dies
I'll pull apart my silver parts car first.
Send some photos through. You also wanted the air con display didn't you ? |

Re: Kevin Black dies
yes, I got his 4WS (ex NUTSHL). That's the car originally owned by Adam @ Subaru NZ. Engine packed up, currently getting replaced. In the process of ordering a tonne of parts from USA to replace while it's out.
Engine seals, vacuum hoses, rocker cover seals, timing belt etc Adds up to about $1500 landed from US or $2900 from Wingers. |

Re: Kevin Black dies
Shane - yes still interested in the Aircon control unit (digital type) - would like to do a write-up on refubishing the electronics - mine sometimes has issues with the display not working (extra bars on the readout) - need another to reverse engineer the schematic etc.
Thanks again. Steve |
