using atf in gas to clean engine
i came across an article saying you can put a quart of atf into a tank of gas and it will help clean out the engine
anyone else hear of this?

Somehow I think the only thing that would be cleaned out is your bank account, since new catalytic converters are a bit on the expensive side.

I wouldn't put ATF in the gas tank but I do put in a quart of it in the engine oil prior to changing out the oil and filter. It does a decent job of cleaning out the oil passageways.

I have heard of this. we do it in HMMWV's (hum vee's) in the army from time to time, but that's a diesel with no cats, never tried in a gasoline engine.

I would stick with Redline SI-1 or 3M's top end product. Amsoil's product is good too.
