FEELER: my 92 LS-L

I'm contemplating selling my 92 LS-L, and sitting on the cash until I can find a newer/nicer one, or a 5 speeded one.

Location of the SVX: Corvallis, Oregon

Year: 1992

Model: LS-L

VIN: Don't know it off the top of my head but I have it, and a carfax

Manufacture date: I think 10/91

Paint Color: Pearl white

Interior Color: Gray

Miles: 180k

Location: Corvallis, Oregon

Options: LS-L touring model, all options

AWD or FWD: AWD

Modifications: 17: wheels with decent tires (60-70% tread), stock wheels with studded snow tires (have ~1200 miles or so on them), Panasonic MP3 CD player with front panel AUX input, Pioneer 6x9s in rear deck, cross drilled cadmium coated rear brake rotors.

Major service:

All fluids done recently with geniune Subaru parts, new NGK Platinum plugs (OEM spec), new rear brake pads & rotors, right rear wheel bearing replaced with OEM bearings.

Engine Condition:

180k miles, cam covers and cam seals seeping, needs timing belt (will probably do before I sell it)

Maintenance Records:

Since I did all the work myself at my work, I don't have hard copies of anything except I could dig out the receipts for the parts. Front and rear diffs, trans fluid, brake fluid, coolant, power steering fluids have all been done.

Transmission condition:

Subaru remanufactured transmission with ~30,000 miles on it, fluid is Genuine Subaru fluid (Will probably replace with the newer Transmax J fluid that's used in the 5EAT, is fully compatible with the 4EAT and actually makes them perform better than the Dexron III fluid)

Glass condition:
New OEM front windshield, rear window + rear side windows are tinted, front windows have some slight scratches from the felt pads in the doors but nothing major. Wipers are all OEM Subaru (Front ones are the "correct" wipers with the rubber bumpers for the parking stops)

Type of tire and remaining tread: Tires on the car now are I think Toyo but I can't remember, they have about 60% tread, on 17 inch ADR wheels (you can see them in the picture), I also have 4 Firestone snow tires with ~1200 miles on them mounted on the stock wheels.

Type of wheels: ADR gunmetal gray 17 inch plus 1 set of stock wheels w/ snow tires.

Interior condition:

Interior is in good condition, stitching in driver's seat bottom is coming apart but it's not too bad. Some scuffing of the ecsaine around the power mirror switch (have replacement panel) and some on the panel above the glove box. Driver's visor slightly droopy. Have 4 factory floor mats, the tray under the seat, and a brand new cupholder still in the plastic.

Body condition:
A few minor dings and dents, scratch on the driver's side above the wheel, some rock chips and such. Paint is the right color but it's not the best paint job, are a few rock chips and such painted over, and poor masking around a few spots but it's not super obvious, also paint is peeling off the rocker panel trim at the bottom on the driver's side. Some cracking in the paint on the bumpers but nothing major, only "big" dent is a fist-sized dent below the tail light on the driver's side.

Known defects or problems:
Cam covers, cam seals seeping oil, left wheel bearing makes noise, currently getting 14mpg in town (has brand new OEM O2 sensors). I will fix these before selling if the price is right. Also does have a branded title but I'm not sure why, carfax shows an accident in 1993 in New York, then a bunch of auctions and in the middle of the auction list it shows the title brand, but I can't find any major body damage or major repairs (original hood was originally green and repainted, but I have since replaced the hood with a factory white one.)

Comments about the car:

Bought the car in October of 2007 with a dead transmission, I love it but I want to get a newer one so I'm testing the waters. This is not a "I must sell this car" although I am open to negotiation.

Asking price:
Looking to get $2500-3500 for it, depending on whether someone wants it as-is or wants the wheel bearing and timing belt/seals done.

Re: FEELER: my 92 LS-L

I have been mulling over the same type of thing for the past few months. Sell the SVX put the money a side till I find one I want more. There are at least 3 for sale right now that are very tempting lower miles and better over all condition than my current one.

The only reason I haven't is because people don't seem to be buying.

People are not buying because money is tight. People don't know what is going to happen in the near future. We can't count on anything anymore. More taxes, work, and day to day situations can change any moment. When things get back to normal (whenever that is) people will buy again.
