Insurance?
How do some of you who've had speeding violations pay for insurance? Mine's extremely high, though I dont understand why. In the past 2 years I've gotten 2 speeding tickets, both were 8 over the speed limit. Yet I'm more expensive to insure than a friend of mine who's been in 3 accidents. I don't get it. A speeding ticket doesnt COST the insurance company money; an accident DOES. Yet I'm getting raped for prices. Any tips? Anyone find good rates with a national insurance company?

I got a ticket a year and a half ago for passing in the emergency lane. My insurance is only 50 dollars a month though, and has comprehensive and uninsured motorist, and lots of liability (which I'm going to take off).

i pay 180 bucks a month for my insurance w/ out having any accidents or speeding tickets of any kind. could be that im driving a coupe and im only 17... oh well, i still have the coolest car at school so its all good. even people that have seen the car numerous times still get confused by the window situation.

I used to pay through the orifice for insurance, too. When I traded my '87 Toyota pickup for my SVX my rates went from $75 a month to $300 a month.
Yeah, I dropped that policy real fast... ...you just need to change states every couple years like I do. Moving from WI to PA to FL to VT to MI has left behind any violations I had...of course, I haven't gotten a ticket in over four years now... ...except for an expired plate, recently...I hope that doesn't affect my rates. :I

even though i have been pulled over numerous times for stupid things, i have been lucky to get off with nothing. i flash my crets and he lets me go. i am lucky to be on my stepfather's insurance. i pay about 65 a month. we (my mother, stepdad, and myself) are all on the same insurance with clean records.
my insurance company deems my SVX as a lux sedan. so it is cheaper. me being a female, i get lower rates to begin with. every year my rates decrease. my stepbrother, on the other hand drives a Civic...(yippy! ) and he has had a few tickets on highways where the speed limit is 65 (tickets in these zones are double) he is paying like 300 a month. the best advice i can give you is to take driving classes (offensive and defensive) they lower your insurance rates and points. and shop around for insurance. they are companies like any other and will bargin with you to get you. I have One accident on my record that I am only getting charged 10% for. I'm paying exactly 300 a month with my svx. When I had my topaz I was paying about 250. Everywhere I look they want more money than what im already paying with my current insurance company.

I'm 22 and I pay $100 a month. Fully comp. with $500 deductable. I've gotton only a 2 point violation which didn't change my rates at all. I'm also under my father's insurance policy which makes it alot cheaper for me.

I got a ticket for an unsignaled lane change on I5. Insurance just for the ticket went up 191 per year for 3 years...so in addition to a c/s ticket I get to pay 600 for it.

I pay about 71 bucks a month, basic california coverage(liability only). I couldn't afford to pay the 300-400 a month comprehensive will cost.
22, 1 speeding ticket, 1 accident on my record. Car and insurance all under me only.

The SVX is classified in differentl categories depending on the insurance company.
Find one that doesn't classify it as a "Sports Coupe", and the rates should be better. I'm with State Farm, and I'm paying exactly the same as my previous car, a 96 Golf Diesel, with all its 75hp. Go figure. VK |
