Drive Performance wants to do a feature on Reading
.
This is the email I received today: Dear John, I am writing you as editor of Subaru Drive Performance magazine. Your name and e-mail address were forwarded to me by the people at Subaru of America with whom I work on the magazine. I have the preview of the SVX Reading Meet that you wrote to James Han late last year. Would it be possible to reply with a brief report about the meet for the next issue of Drive Performance, which we’re putting together right now. How many SVXs did you have? Was it a good turnout? Where do you recommend that people interested in the SVX go for more information? Also, have you high-resolution photography from the meet? Sorry to be in such a rush. Thanks. Ric Hawthorne, Editor Drive Performance Now, when is the last time anyone talked about the SVX in this magazine, except for the Pace car article? I believe we had final total of 80 attendees and 51 cars. Where should I recommend people go to find out more about the SVX  Looks like we get about 15 more minutes of fame. I will talk to Richard to find out just what kind of photos he is interested in... .

I sent out as much information as I could to acquaint the editor with Reading, including the "History of Reading", "How the Pace Car came to Reading X", etc. Various links to photos as well.
I also filled him in on the number of attendees, number of SVX's, things like Earl's "herd" and Earthworm's 3200 mile round trip, Tim Eng's contact information for the high-res photographs, etc. Lots of stuff to digest and enjoy. His reply today: John, Thanks for all the help and valuable information. Very impressive! Too bad we don’t have more room in this issue…. We’ll give you as much space as we can. We will be mailing out this issue at the end of July. Richard. We'll see what happens next. It will be nice to see what slant the article takes from Subaru's perspective in a Performance magazine. Maybe I shouldn't have said: "The only reason that Subaru created the WRX STi in the first place was to give the Subaru SVX access to the 5-speed manual transmission it should have had all along"  .
