$5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
$5, 5 Minute droopy visor fix
Sick of messing with those droopy visors or don't want to pay to get new ones or the current ones fixed? This $5, 5 minute method will solve your problems! Before: ![]() First go to RadioShack and buy the following 2 items: The magnets come in a 2 pack. ![]() Do not get the glue on your skin! It is very fast acting and strong! ![]() Use the glue on one side of the magnet and place it on the visor: ![]() Place glue on the other magnet and firmly press into the area above the other magnet. You may have to apply more glue and repeat for the glue to soak into the cloth. IMPORTANT: Make sure you have the magnetic charges opposite so it attracts, and not repels. ![]() Make sure the magnets will touch! ![]() And once dry you'll be done and without a droop! After: ![]() |

Re: $5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
Mine is still in good shape, so that's a non-issue right now for me. Plus the magnets weight next to nothing so they won't pull down on the headliner much if at all

Re: $5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
I have always wondered, what if you could slip a strong magnet inside the visor, wouldn't it be attracted to the metal in the roof? Or is the headliner too thick for this to work?

Re: $5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
A strong bar magnet should be able to do the trick. A thin strip may not...

Re: $5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
people should either come up with a tensioner system to assist the factory arm, or else stitch velcro all the way through the headliner, so it is stitched thru to the backing......that will require removal of headliner or at least partial removal to get to the other side.
or just use a bandaid or duct tape.

Re: $5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
You appear to have received a rather negative response to what seems a good idea, for a simple quick fix.
If you have trouble with the lining, you could make a small slit, insert some contact glue and press the outer lining to adhere to the inner. The magnet should conceal the slit and both magnets will normally not be visible and in any case should be neat and tidy. A disc of some suitable stiff material, under the magnet, would not be out of place. My visors are getting a little slack and if I get to the problem stage, I most certainly will consider your suggestion. I don't like the idea of the tear away action, of Velcro. ![]()

Re: $5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
Droopy visors are a real pain. But so is $150, so I opted for the Velcro method myself. I ran a short self tapping screw into the headliner in the middle of my Velcro patch thus holding it and the fuzz in place long term. I was reluctant to put the screw into my roof, but since I plan on running this thing into the ground, resale isn't really an issue for me. This has the added benefit of being strong enough to hold my microphone for the bluetooth unit plus excess wiring above the visor. I'm pretty tall so I've never needed that visor down, and with the wire up there I wouldn't want it down.
My point is, if you've got a budget minded way to hold up your visor and don't mind trashing it's mint condition (mine was far from mint when I got it), then have at it. This seems really good to me as long as you find a way to keep it from pulling the fuzz down with it. Good luck.

Re: $5, 5 minute droopy visor fix
Sadly, this mod will most likely pull down the headliner. Good idea though. I am working on a "fix" for the droopy sunvisors. I will post everything once I know the fix will work. The only downfall is that my job has sucked me away from everything else in my life. So my two minor SVX do it yourself mods have been sitting on the back burner. More to come soon...I hope. My Clarets sunvisor is beginning to droop.
