Don't do this Mod

I made the mistake of heading off last week with out puting the plastic covers inside the guard and as a result I fill the aircleaner with mud and water the photo is taken after I got most of the mud out. As you can see its not a great place to break down but I used a water container cut up to keep the water from getting into the engine again. I am totally amazed that the engine survived and shows no damage even though I had to remove every thing before the throttle body to get rid of the water & mud. There were rock stuck in the MAF unit as the air cleaner broke in half from the suction of the engine when it blocked. Here are some of the photos.

1992 - SVX red & Black being converted to Mid Engine.
1995 - SVX Red 143,000 bit rough.
Owned 5 others Subaru back to a 1974 1400 GSR.

that sucks...

but that pic with the SVX in the middle of nowhere with huge tires is sorta badass.

I sucked up some water once, I let it run a for a bit before turning it off. bu never mud

Guy the reason I drive the SVX in the desert is simple. I want to go out to the desert and take photos and enjoy the pleasure of driving the car fast like a rally car. Now I could be like every one else and take a big Toyota or Nissan and drive around like a retired pensener but it would take for ever to get from A to B. Last trip I covered 5,500 k in 5 days and was stop with the problem for nearly 1 day.

Next year when it cools down I plan to drive accross the Simpson Desert. I went part of the way it as you can see from the photos. The current problem with the car is it needs limited front diff and 50:50 rear front drive other wise when you stop hard with braks you can get stuck. The second photo shows how you go if you are moving.
The Simpson Desert is one of the largest sand desert in the world and has the longest dunes in the world. They can be up to 40m high.
The other thing I should tell you is just about every time I stop for fuel people come up to me and want to look and talk about the car. Most of the time they make comments like "Only Subaru could build a car like that that can standard the punishment out here".
