well..i read on nasioc.com ...well..i was researching on the eg33 swap into impreza...and one...one wrote that swap will not put 100% power because the tranny ecu has to be connected? so...is this true or how does this work?
thanks, dao |

well..this is what he said..
WARNING IF you use the EG33 SVX ECU, it will not make full power without the transmission computer, the ECU will think it is in neutral and will pull timing by 6-10 deg. across the board. This was a feature Subaru designed into the SVX to make the shifts smoother, it pulls timing during the shift phase. It will not make full timing unless the appropriate signal is being sent to the ECU. This problem has been detailed on the SVX Network (www.subaru-svx.net). Your best bet is a standalone, anyway. The Hydra EMS Nemesis should work if you want a truly "modern" ecu that won't cost you a billion dollars. They have support for a number of 6cyl cars and should be able to set up for the SVX easily. Proper tuning with open exhaust, intake, and upgraded fueling should net you about 280hp without any internal mods. The prototype was running 280 NA. Good luck! is this true? |

Read this http://www.svx-iw.com/svxiw/road_track/pages/42.html
It says nothing about timing, but does mention a momentary fuelling cut on the 1-2 shift. Of course the article could be wrong, but what evidence does the original poster have for his assertion?

as long as the car is not wired to be in neutral all the time there is no issue. the clutch switch should be wired into the harness only to send a neutral signal to the ECU when the clutch is depressed

one wire from the pedal switch needs to be wired into the blue/white wire on the old tranny plug the other needs to be wired to the black/yellow wire next to the blue/white one in the same harness

That sounds about right to me.
Graham has his five-speed wired so that the computer thinks the auto is in Drive all the time. I actually don't know if he has gone to the complexity of putting a switch to relay a Neutral signal to the ECU when the clutch is depressed. I'll double check with him at the weekend when he's home.
