My '92 SVX dealer replaced transmission cost me $2800 in western NY. Now my '94 SVX transmission gave up the ghost and a dealer outside NYC wants $3800. Before I ask them for an explanation, does anyone have any suggestions? Or is this just inflation? lance49
PS Should the synthetic ATF be changed every 15000 miles? |

Re: Cost OF REMANUFACTURED trannie

You'll find various prices throughout the country. Back in 99, when mine gave up the ghost, the dealer where I am quoted me around 4,600.00. When I took a poll of members and what they'd paid, or had been quoted, I got prices from 2,700 to 3,200. Note, I hadn't gotten any as high as what I was quoted. When I complained to SOA, their note back to me told me that Subaru dealers are independent and can charge what they want to. I'd see if I couldn't make an appointment with the same folks who replaced your other trans. ![]()

Make sure they are giving you the 1200 core credit. Some dealers try to scam you by cheating you out of it.
