Arrow For Sale: Garage Kept 1997 SVX

So the story goes: A lady I work with has a Black 1997 SVX with a little under 38,000. She needs to sell it because she works with an animal rescue shelter and needs a bigger car or SUV to carry around pets. She really loves the car and when I asked if I could alert the forum to it before she put it on Ebay she was happy to oblige knowing there might be someone who would take as good care of it as she did. This car is immaculate both inside and out. It was a showroom car and she is the first owner. It has been gargae kept and only used for local driving. She is looking for around $16,000 but the price she is negotiable. I would imagine you could get it for around 12K or 13K.The VIN is: JF1 CX8654 VH100014 If you have any questions let me know and i will try and get back to you as soon as possible.

I would be interested, but it is much higher in price than I think it is worth. It is a 10 year old car, even if it has been kept in a garage and low mileage. Thanks for the heads up though. I know that you are not pricing it, and you are letting us know about it. This was not aimed at you or intended to be negative towards her or the price. Just my thoughts.

Yeh, the price is way higher even for that mileage and ofcourse for a 10 year old car as earl mentioned. But, maybe some pics may help someone to show interest and also some details. Anyway good luck for her on selling it.

Yea it is a little high. I told her that and she said she knew that but thats what she hoped to get out of it. She would probably take 12 or 13. I'll work on getting some pictures soon.

Winter Driver?

If she drove it in the winter on the salted roads in PA it will have the rusted bolt and other part issues of the northeastern cars even if she did always park it in the garage. In this case, it is definitely to much money for it.

That is definately not true. Come look at my 95. Now if she drove it on salted roads and didn't keep up with washing it or even worse drive it into a heated garage with the crud on it then it'll be rusty. You must remember that Americans don't take care of anything. Ever wonder why British cars last on an Island in the Atlantic that it rains every other day better then they do here?

You are right--Americans normally do not take care of their vehicles since they are so common in our way of life and relatively speaking only cost us a fraction to own. Rain of course it not the real problem. It is the salt in the winter. You can drive around the NE and even North in the winter and even on dry days over 50 percent of the cars are still white from the salt during the last snows. THAT is the problem. It takes a very aggressive approach at keeping them clean and mostly underneath and not what is visible. I agree that there may be some older cars there that are well taken care of like you say yours is; however, that is an exception to the normal. It is your type of car that someone needs to buy and I am just suspicious of most cars from there, particularly women driven cars. (Not to insult women--just that they are not aware of the extreme care problems).

I hope you do find a relatively low mileage 96 or 97 just to enjoy and not necessarily so you will have one of each year. Every time I take a trip of over 100 miles, I just marvel at what a joy it is to drive. Of course I am highly prejudicial.

Eventually I'll look this word "rust" up and try to figure out what you guys are talking about. It sounds fasinating.

Seriously, if a person wants to turn a tech in Las Vegas into a crybaby. Take them a vehicle with a rusted undercarriage. I found this out when I had the 92 shipped down here from MN. You may as well have smacked their mother with how they react. Kind of spoiled out here on bolt removals. The dealership actually called me to complain about it. (Hey, did you know this car is rusted underneith? It triples our time, and hurts our tools, whaa, whaa! I told them that I swear I didn't go under there and spray it with a can of insta-rust... It was already there.)

It's pretty much rust free now.... Including that pesky rear wheel well common phenomen. Professionally cleaned up and restored.

Earl, you missed a Bordeaux 97 on eBay that went for $5500. It's coming to Canada

Is this an LSI? Where can it be seen? And yes, the price is very high ( like dealer high!) Perhaps she will consider offers. Let me know. I am looking for that model, & have seen several.
