steering wheel rubs thighs
Ive had my svx since the beginning of summer and it hasnt become an issue until now but is there a reason that even when the drivers seat is in its lowest setting the steering wheel still rubs my thighs. Im a skinny person so its not my physical atributes and the steering wheel only seems to have 2 lock in areas low/really low. It seems that it should be able to lock in higher but it doesnt. Is something wrong?

Look underneath the steering wheel on the bottom side of the column and you will see a lever that pulls out. THAT is the steering wheel adjustment lever. Adjust the steering wheel until it is in a comfortable position and then push the lever back into place. The lever on the side of the column makes the wheel swing away to ease entry into the car. Sorry that you've been miserable with your driving position so long, but this happens to lots of new SVX owners. I once stopped to look at an SVX on a used car lot and was told that it was difficult to drive because the steering wheel adjustment gear was broken. They said that a new part was on order and offered to sell me the car at a slightly reduced price if I wanted it as-is. I already owned an SVX at the time and laughed, went over and set the wheel for them and drove off while they were standing with their mouths open.

LOL! So did you buy it at the reduced price as-is?
![]() The adjustment is a little tough to find when you don't know about it. Heck, I forgot how to adjust it after I simply hadn't done it in a year or two... I was thouroughly confused for 15 minutes. ![]()

Reach way way below the steering wheel there is a little lever that will move the steering wheel and lock it into place. Just be careful when you pull it you dont have your head too close, i made that mistake the first time i pulled it and got hit in the teeth.
Does anyone use their tilt knob? I use mine if i'm wearing heels with an outfit so i can change into tennis shoes to drive and back into my heels without anyone getting to see the lovely look of a miniskirt and tennis shoes but thats it. And occasionally if i need to write something for someone i'll tip it to make a little desk. It always freaks ppl out when i do that! ![]() |

I actually prefer it at that setting and have to pop the wheel up via the release whenever I get into or out of the car.
If you tried all 3 adjusters and it doesn't go where you want, it's broked.
