Post Throttle Body bypass mod - with pics!

While there's already a how-to document about this mod, I personally found that there wasn't enough pics which caused me some confusion when trying to visualize the step-by-step process.

After talking the process over with Svxfiles, I decided to do this great 'free' mod and take step-by-step pics for everyone else:

To give yourself adequate room to do this coolant bypass mod, remove the stock air hose that runs between the airbox and throttle bodies.

Driver's side coolant hose

Passenger's side coolant hose

There's a spring clamp on the end each hose. Use a needle nose pliers to open-up the clamp and slide it down the hose away from the end. Place a rag under the hose and pull it off. Some engine coolant will run out, but not very much...

This was a t-fitting I used to join the two hoses - this connector was actually incuded with the phenolic spacers I purchased from Outlaw Engineering...

The t-fitting simply slides into the hose and then use your pliers to re-position the clamp on the end...

All done. All in all it took me ~20 minutes from start to finish.

-Chike

P.S. It's also a good idea to cover up the openings in the throttle body that the coolant went into and out of - I used some high temp electrical tape, just to keep dust and other debris from getting in.

Is it a T fitting or just a connector? Looks like a connector, not a T. Let me know and I can edit it for you.

Perhaps an 'I' fitting. ?! Or maybe a lower case 'l' fitting.

If this is put in as an approved modification. You had better add a disclamer, warning of the dangers of ice forming on the throttle plates, to jam the throttle open. This is a real danger, not only in cold situations.

I myself would not recommend this, because of the possibilty of sh1t happening, and I think Beav would aggree also.
Harvey.

Day 2 and I haven't noticed this mod showing any seat of the pants benefits. We'll see, though I may be reversing it if I don't see results within a week or so.
