Exaust setup for a stage 3
I have been wondering what I should run now that I will be going stage 3. I currently have a basic kit from dayle. I am looking to obviously produce more power but I am not willing to destroy my low end for it.
My conclusion: Give me your advice/thoughts on what will work and why...or just buy me a flatt and we will see how that goes ![]() |

I don't think anyone other than LAN knows what would be best for Stage III. No one else can test it at the moment. I'm thinking keep existing designs except maybe 1/4" larger.

If your emissions laws allow, build the exhaust from the O2 sensors back. You'd basically be building up an entire new exhaust. I'd recommend 2" or 2.25" primaries which could be transitioned to a single 3" main pipe using the Magnaflow 94057 cat:
http://www.car-sound.com/catalog/universal/940.aspx You'd need to get an O2 sensor plug for the O2 sensor hole in the cat. Position the cat so that the center of the cat is behind the drive shaft carrier bearing. This is needed to help combat resonance. I'd put a couple of 2.25" dia resonators before the cat, and I'd put a 3" dia resonator after the cat. For the 2.25" resonators, I'd use the Vibrant Performance resonators (http://www.vibrantperformance.com/), part number 1791 (2.25" inlet/outlet, 18" OAL): http://www.vibrantperformance.com/products/main.html For the 3" resonator I'd use Magnaflow part number 14419 (3" inlet/outlet, 20" OAL): http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=351 If you want to keep the price down, finish off the system with a Magnaflow crossflow muffler (3" inlet, 2.5" outlets), part number 14267. That will provide plenty of breathing for the S/C and sound great.

I dont think you'll have to worry about the low end torque so much when you get your stage III.You'll be getting so much more with the S/C that you'll still have quite a bit more than stock.

My setup might be best for the stage 3. True dual 2-1/4 all they way back, 2 highflow cats, 2 resonators, and two mufflers. That would work out best I think for a lot of free flow.
