Post '92 Teal LS-L For Sale WA

I went and looked at a very good condition SVX. When I arrived to see the car for the first time I was intrigued to see that it was painted teal all over & equipped w/ the touring package. I looked very closely and the owner claims that it has never been repainted. I was also thrilled to hear that the buyer would be the 2nd owner of this beauty and that he has meticulously maintained his beloved SVX. THE ONLY damage I found on this vehicle was quite a few door dings (more than 5 on each side). Not just chipped paint but a few small dents on both doors. No other body damage to report! The windshield also had a very concerning ding directly in the driver's view but has not spread yet. I used the self diagnostic procedures and checked the PCM and TCU for codes, none were found. The car started w/o hesitation and idled very well w/o notable RPM fluctuation. Under the hood I found a clean engine bay w/ no modifications. No major leaks present. I did reach underneath and found two typical leaking cam seals. The only other damage I could list would be where a mobile phone was hard wired and mounted in the cab. Stock sound system and ~145K on the clock. The seller had the original window stickers and the paperback Road & Track write-up on the SVX.

The asking price is $7400

I offered him KBB's price in "excellent" condition and he diddn't take. He did mention that he would be willing to knock "a little" off if he knew it would go to someone who would truly appreciate and love the car as much as he did. I think I fit the bill but again, I wasn't willing to pay more than KBB told me to. I have pictures of this car and contact info for the seller if anyone would like to take a peek. Please PM me w/ your email if you are interested.

Hi SeaSleeper,

I don't understand, 'intrigued to see that it was painted teal all over'? Aren't all Teal cars teal all over?

Post someone please correct me if I am wrong but..

I have never seen a '92 w/ touring that was not two tone. I believe that this car is unique in that it did have the original paint and was not two tone.

Later years when polo green was introduced Subaru dropped the two tone style. That may be where you got confused.

I was about to ask this as well.

As far as I know all Teals are just one color, there are no two tone teals (even in 92) unless THEY are the repaints!

Strange they did this, but yes, Teal is the only color in 92 that was one-tone (well except black), all others had the black roof, etc.

Conversely, Pearl is the only color in 94 that is two-tone, at least North America spec.

All U.S. 93, 95-97 are single tone.

Agreed,

I have seen six different 92 Teals, no black. And the all Teal with spoiler is a very nice looking SVX. I'm looking at one now, and saw a different one without spoiler yesterday. As I look, I think Subaru made the right decision. Who can post a picture of a '92 Teal repaint with black?

And if someone could clarify the 92 black. The black cars are ebony mica all over, top and bottom. The top black paint on 92 Pearl, Claret and Silver is not the same black as the top of a '92 black. Correct?

Does anyone know the paint code for the 'three-car' black and the code for the '92 black car? While we're at it, black was built each year. How many different black codes are there?

Duuuurrrr

Wow, I must be really dense to not have noticed that.

Anyone agree that the seller is off his rocker w/ the price or what?

He insists that this car WILL become a collector's item and that it hasn't even been used up to 50% of it's life w/ the car's 300K mile engine. I agree about the engine, but nearly every other component except for the engine will not come close.

It's a really nice car but this guy is way too stubborn to take less than $6500 for it. I feel like saying things like "HA, good luck w/ that!" or "sure the engine will last but at 140 K your tranny should be begging to be replaced" but I hold back and wait to write those comments out on the internet instead.

Another point... The paint looks outstanding. But my question is: How can you have dings that large in your door and "not" scuff the paint? I'm feeling its a repaint, and if thats the case, why not say it was? Those dings are huge. Any signs of an accident?

Still another point, and this one may raise some neck hairs. BUT, it's just an opinion.

And that opinion is: The '92s won't be the first out there as collectors. The 97's will peak first.. You can't find them now... Right after that, the 93 aniversary models will climb. But the Teal 92's? We all own them or have own them. Teal 92's are consistantly being bought and sold more than any other year or color. They are too common within the class. It's like saying a '65 Vette is worth more than a 67. You can't find a 67, and they are worth 5 times the amount.

This guy needs to skim a little off that price, or he's going to own it until it does become a collector's model in the year 2055.

I would agree on the price - way too high. I have never seen a teal with black on it either. Your parts car is all teal as well.

Talking

If his's worth 6500. then our 92 should have brought 9500. and our 97 must be worth 17,000! If he sells it, tell him I'll give him 10% for referring the next in line buyer for his.
