Door Hinges...
Has anyone ever redone the svx door hinges. My doors squeak when i open them and i get a kind of clatter noise/feel when i close them. When on an incline the doors swing back.
I know the doors are rather heavy. Will having newer hinges make the doors seem at least easier to open? Thanks chris |

Forgive me,
But you gotta be kidding. Try wd-40. |

haha well the wd-40 will take care of the squeak, but i was just wondering if new hinges would make the doors (at least mine) have some more life to them. I feel as if i am getting an additional workout just opening them up. I realize it is a rather miniscule thing to ask but i am pretty anal when it comes to my svx (as are many others on here)....

My preferences
I find that any brand of silicone based spray lub for the marine environment works best for auto hinges. Just a quick shot, no need to soak the area two or three times a year works great. Hit all piviot points, good for the locking mech as well.

Do whatever you can to not lean on them. Some obsurdly huge amount of weight was put onto my passenger door and it scrapes whenever it moves.
My driver's side swings smooth and if I open it just right will close itself after I get in. ![]()

Sounds like you have a bad door checker, thats the thing you see between your upper and lower hinges. It prevents your door from swinging back at you when your parked at an incline. Also if its not greased, it can produce a very loud grind or pop noise each time you open and close your door.
I would first lube the checker and the hinges just to stop the noise. Then look into replacing the checker so your door will hold properly. Good luck.
