Anyone seen the squished cars yet?

Some other forums have gone crazy with people making these "squished" cars. I found a tutorial, and did it to my SVX.

That is totally AWESOME! The background is unchanged and while the car looks rediculous in porportions (still looks sweet) it also looks completely real. Great job. How long did it take to do?

this is the instructions directly from the vw forum...

"Take the picture shrink it to a small width size. Don't shrink both length and width, just the width.

Next, copy that picture to a new file, or save it as something else. (Ex. if the original is named "dub.jpg", then save the shrunken photo as "Dub2.jpg")

Next, open the original sized file.

Then cut the fender and rim out (I do anyways). You'll have to play with how much to cut out and perfect it for your liking.

Then paste the rim over the shrunken photo.

Do the same steps above for the other rim...Outline - Cut - Paste onto shrunken photo.

Then, if you're using photoshop, you'll have to link all the layers together. (select the layers and make sure that they have a little chain link symbol in the box next to the layer's name. Then hit Ctrl E. ) This will link all layers together so you can blend, blur, and use the clone stamp tool to make body lines match.

At this point, you should be satisfied. I wasn't so I added my own touch to the photos. You don't have to do any other steps to get it to look good. Just practice, and once you get it down, it'll only take 5-10 minutes to do a photo for someone

Haven't tried it yet but now that I look at a few that were done I think it sounds easier than it looks.

I'll try to find the tutorial tomorrow, or tonight, no time right now.

It's basically the same as that one posted already, but it says to do it in layers, not in multiple copies of the car.

-lasso tool around the wheel, getting part of the fender, and part of the ground.
-copy/paste as a new layer
-free transform background to about 40%
-move wheels into place
-feather/blend edges to make it go together.
-crop to normal dimensions.

quick run through

It's easiest to pick a picture with a neutral background, because you wont be able to tell it's been squished (as opposed to having people in the background).

That was the first one I did, and it only took me like 5-10mins.

Spiffy. Looks like a Choro-Q.

I actually went hunting for a real SVX Choro-Q a while back, and it looks like Takara never made one. Apparently some industrious people have custom-fabbed 'em out of the NSX. I'd love to have one to stick on my Digi-Q chassis.
