Just want to show you guys some fun I had with my SVX on snow.
I was the pioneer to climb up that hill. After the first round, I went back again decided to take some pics to show you guys. Underneath the snow was the mud. My SVX was just amazingly slowly climbing up the hill like 5-10mph(stop-and-go) with not a problem at all. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Ken,
Good to see that you're still around and haven't sold the SVX. Very nice shots. Unfortunately, we can't keep the snow on the ground long enough to "enjoy" driving in it. ![]()

svxsubaru1 & mr.pockets,
but that's true. i know how steep it is. i studied trigonometry. we're known as the 'home of mountaineers' because of we've lot of steep hills. when 45 degree hill on wet snow, the four wheels would spin for a while (5, 10 secs depending on how soon it will catch the traction!), and then the SVX will just climb up easily. I tried my fren's suzuki 4x4 on the same hill, it still climbed up. But, I think the SVX worked better. ![]() Going up hill is not a big problem. Going down is scary. The ABS didn't help much but cluttering. I ain't sure if I can take any pics to show you and I don't want to risk my SVX. If I put to "P" on the steep hill, my SVX would keep sliding down.(only 2 front wheels locked) Only if I hold the appropriate pressure on the brake pedal, I can stop my SVX at the 45 degree hill. ![]() Come over here I can show you which ones I was talking about. If I have some good time, I can probably take some pics to show you how steep it is (yeah, I saw people could fall down easily when walking down and up) when it's dry or wet not with the wet snow... ![]()

Thanks for taking our criticism so lightly. I appreciate you not getting defensive about it.
I'd like some photographic proof of the hills - I've never seen anything that steep. As a matter of fact, my SVX would overheat on the real remote mountain roads in VT, and those were nowhere near 45deg. I have no idea how steep they were. I'm going to do some research on road gradients. No offense, but I think your guess of 45deg is off, no matter what level of math you've taken.

Okay, so the Guinness Book of World Records says that the steepest paved road in the world is a 37.5% grade. For comparison, a 45 degree road would be a 100% grade.
That 37.5% grade road works out to a 20.6 degree incline, if my math is right. Somebody feel free to check it - there's a reason I'm not on the programmer side of the building. ![]() Again, no offense, but I think your claim of 45 degree roads is...off, to say the least.

My SVX is also incredible in the snow. Nothing at all will stop it, except driving into a snow bank or something lol...but what shocked me was that my car was moving better than even the pig mobile SUVs that were all over the road, and my car has 18" rims with 40 series ultra high performance rubber...
I can only imagine how great it would have done with stock rims! |

Is there any couple dollars cheap instrument that I can get from Wal-Mart or ACE to measure the hill when I put it in my car or on the road? You make me feel like measuring every hills in this town when I was in my car. So I can tell you the readings of 'my 45deg' hill. ![]() Is the Guinness Book of World Records a very accurate one? ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() One thing is; I have bad gas mileage. I always get 12-14mpg for city drivings. Think about the hills in this town and my professor's 94 SVX FWD also get the same gas mileage so I take that. Highway, crusing at about 70-80mph can get 24-26mpg. There's one time I couldn't believe that I could get 28mpg with 4 people in my SVX. Guess it's just after oil change, maintenance stuff and sthing...

You should see some of the stuff I force my Avenger thru....snow even or maybe a bit above the bottom of the door, badly snowcovered roads, and somehow, it makes it. Of course, I have a 1 season old set of Blizzaks on there, so that helps.
But just imagine what I could do with a SVX....
