Cool Upgraded brakes at 63

Hey everyone. I convinced my Dad 3 years ago to go Subaru and he's never looked back. Today I went over to his house and got the suprise of my year. Following my lead with my SVX my dad has installed EBC Frount brakes and Drilled and Slotted rotors on his Outback Sport. He's 63 years old and now has the Sportiest Sport in our little town. I always crack up when I see all the Neons and Junk running around town with oversized 5 spokes and STOCK ROTORS and DRUMS Painted to match the car all pealing off and ****. (Fashion before function I guess) Now I just need to convince him to get some rims to show off those beauties.
Hears a picture. Let me know what you think and help me convince him to get rims. HE'S 1 COOL DAD

well, you're Dad's got a few years on me, but not much (I'm working on 53).

Just give him some facts and let him stew on it a bit.

first, he might wish to consider stainless brake lines - better brake feel/control and less likely to rupture/balloon.

second (on rims). have him check the weight of his stock rims w/wheel covers and find out the weight of some aftermarket rims that fit. Explain how unsprung weight affects handling. I'm guessing he's not the autocross type, but the increase in handling capability by reducing unsprung weight could be a deciding factor in accident avoidance. Then again ya never know, there's a nearby couple in their late seventies that take driving turns at the local SCCA AutoX - in their Acura NSX.

Lastly, don't know how he feels about music, but if he ever heard a good stereo, you just might find your Dad blasting tunes going down the street. I catch my neighbor playing old blues men all the time, with the windows up on his car I could still name the tunes when he drives up - and you might be surprised to find out just how loud I listen to Dire Straits
