Some of youse guys are guilty!

I just took a stroll over to the yahoo site...anonymously of course, and the amount of pure BS there amazes me. And some of it comes from people that frequent this site too!

Yes, this is my garage, so I'm gonna speak my mind.

1. Never, *EVER*, put only 2 new tires (or snow tires) on an AWD Subaru, SVX or not.

2. Brake fluid *will* overflow when you compress the brake calipers to install new pads if you have been topping it off, think about it.

3. Window switches will not fail in series...depends on use or lack thereof.

4. Tires can be dismounted without the machine if you have the time and tools to do it. Anyone but me remember split rims?

There were several others that I can't think of right now. Seems to me one was about the AC system...but I'm getting old and my memory is failing.

Anyhow, I'm done with my rant...I sure am glad that for the most part we don't get that kind of BS tossed around here.

BTW-Had to drive the beater on the freeway today, dang I miss the SVX when that happens...*and theeeennnnnn* I saw a Mustang on the side of the road, flashers going with a flat tire and no driver in site. Hey Aredub, do ya spose the driver had his spare compartment filled with amps and such? Maybe he hiked to the next rest area to call triple A!

If I may be serious for a moment (just ONE moment), AMEN!

And, yes, I remember split rims . . . I also worked with a guy who had a nub on the end of his left arm where he was airing up a tire in the cage when one of those suckers popped off. O' course, this is after I'd done a few just lowering the rack down on 'em. I kinda shyed away from working on 'em after that.

And using "spoons" to change a tire is no fun, but, it works in a pinch. I preferred our handy dandy Atlas Hydraulic tire changer. Soap 'em up and pop 'em off 'n' on ('n' buttons and bows).

One good thing about having a powerful stereo when you have a flat tire. Whether or not you can go anywhere, you can jam on some good tunes -- right?

Sorry Larry, no can do. I was told by a member over there that my opinion was neither valued nor appreciated, and that *I* had chased off several other members with my comments. Nope, not going back, I learned a long time ago, don't go where you ain't welcome.

As far as Ryan's comments go...ahhh to be young and know it all. I can't fault people for having an opinion, but as you age you *do* learn to listen before you speak. Seems like every time I get in a pi$$in' match with someone it's a young guy with absolutely no knowledge about what he's talking about.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather see no posts made about something than a bunch of conjecture and downright bad information. At least in my case I can give an educated guess when it comes to something I've never run into before...but *geez* some of the outrageous replies are so toopid that they go so far beyond funny that they actually make me cringe.

Unfortunately for me, (being the intolerant old fart I am), there are people that just have to speak up, even when what they say is pure BS. I think it was Lincoln that said..."It's better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you are an idiot than to open it and remove all doubt."

Can I open my mouth?

I never ever change the tires in pairs either. I always change them in all 4s (or 5s if I have the doe at the time -- I hate the donut)

What is the reason BTW? I think I know but I just want to reconfirm my thoughts

Eddy,

As long as I am am on the Yahoo site, you are always welcome.

Looks like we have another Pepe on the site. This one claims to have put a 5-peed tranny in the SVX for only $2500 and 240
man-hours. For all his expertise, he cannot seem to undo the "Caps Lock" button, unfortunately.
Today's kids do not seem to follow the old adage that children should be seen and not heard. We have no one to blame for that except ourselves; since we are their elders.

One last thing; I will not pull the finger or any other appendage of a man who sits around the house all day in a blue bathrobe.

It's a *green* bathrobe! Yeah, I saw peepee II's posts. I think I read that he's trying to round up a friend with a digital camera? Hey, maybe the guy will have proof.

And Lwin...having different sized tires puts undue stress on the transmission. And in one rather extreme incident I've even seen the rear diff get so hot on a legacy that it actually caught on fire. (The moron decided to forgo buying tires when he had a flat and ran his donut spare down to the cords.)

I appreciate that Eddy. It's good to know we are all one big happy family. Actually most people around here value my opinion, because unlike you I'm willing to answer as best I can. I've said before my advice isn't always the best, and my experiences are my experiences. All of the things that I have posted on how to do something, or have done, are things that YES I have done. One of which being this tire that you referring to. YES I HAVE REMOVED A TIRE FROM A STANDARD RIM. Like I said it's not pretty, and not worth the trouble....but YES I have done it.

It just really bothers me that you think you all high and mighty and the rest of the non-Subaru tech world is a group of idiots. I appreciate your invaluable input into this forum...it just really bothers me that you can be such an a$$hole in the same respect.

If no one wants my damn opinion fine, I'll just go back to Yahoo and post my stupid thoughts there.

Good bye World Net!!!

Ryan

Sorry Eddy,

Let me write that down and tape it to the front of the computer.

BATHROBE = GREEN
SVX = BLUE

OK, I think I've got it now.

There I appreciate that. It's nice to know that you, along with the MANY others that have thanks me for my help, still appreciate me.

I guess I will have to go around with a disclaimer tagged on me though, so I don't get any more hate remarks.

Ryan

In as much as Ryan has told us he's leaving, I'll respond to your post.

If Ryan had read the *entire* post that he quoted, he would have seen that I was responding to Larry. He should have started at the original post and noticed that nowhere did I mention names until someone else did, and it just happened to be Ryan's. I suppose to be more politically correct I should have separated the one paragraph into two, then perhaps he could have differentiated between the two comments. At any rate no personal attacks were made that I can see, at least on my part, but if he wants to take it personally and leave, then he's welcome to do so.

I can only assume most people here haven't seen the bumper sticker that reads..."Hire a teenager while he still knows it all." Maybe it's my warped sense of humor, but I find that funny as heck.

As much as I would like to refrain. I can't seem to.

Yes i've have heard of that bumper sticker. hee hee haa haa. Who cares.

The point is, is that regardless of age this network was set up to help each other. You can sit up there on your Ivory tower all you want and look down on the younger generation all you want to. But I think with your piss poor attitude toward others opinons leaves alot to be disired.

I enjoy coming here and learning from others. However, Some folks think they are above and beyond everyone else and that noone elses opions or helpful hints matter.

Sure, I'll Grant you that I certainly do not know anything, very little, about working on my SVX but i damn sure will continue to post what I think and what i have managed to do. It may not be right but maybe, just maybe it worked. And I am sure the other member here will also. For that matter maybe that's why there are 300 f'in logins to this forum and only about 30 of us who ever say anything at all.

I am all for having fun, but you said you didn't personal attack another member. Maybe not in so many words. But it sure as hell sounded that way to me. So, since this is "YOUR" forum then say whatever the hell you want to.

After all we do live in a country of free speach.

Enough ranting.

It's nice to know that you feel you can throw around comments about people's intelligence and then brush it off like your hands are clean. I realized that you were responding to Larry. However the comment "As far as Ryan's comments go...ahhh to be young and know it all." really hit home.

It's funny how you think this is not a personal attack, on my intelligence or my maturity. I'm not saying I have as much knowledge as you, nor do I ever wish to have so much knowledge about vehicles of all things.

I may be "young and stupid", as you blatantly pointed out, but at least I can realize when I've overstepped my boundaries. To point fingers at someone you know nothing about, and call them stupid, is bigotry. If I were a minority would you call me some other racial slur?

I'm not denying the knowledge you have is not valuable, however you seem to not present it in a mature matter. Unlike you, at least I offer my opinion without explaining how unintelligent a person while doing so.

If anyone requires a look at maturity here, it is you Eddy, not us stupid teenagers.

Ryan
