F@#K just lost 5th gear

That about says it. My 170K mile old 5 speed just gave up 5th.

Hmmm wouldn't have anything to do with all those test drives you gave a few days ago would it?

Yup. I went to pass a car, jamed it in fifth and it made a noise like teeth coming of a gear. Not cool.

lol...I saw that coming. if you go with a legacy again i wouldn't guess it would be all that much.

Ya. Acctually I'm thinking about rebuilding this on with some stronger gears maybe. So if anyone has some good sugestions on that let me know. That question will probly get better responses in an I club.

A friend of mine recently installed gears made by MRT which he purchased from gimmegears. He has destroyed two stock WRX transmissions via numerous launches and drag races (street and strip). His car runs low 12 second passes.

I'll confirm the site address and his take on how the gears have been performing for him and get back to you.

Really sorry your tranny died. Shouldn't be too pricey for a used Legacy tranny. If you want to build one up or rebuild your current one, a friend of mine designs a website for a Subaru performance shop. They have a lot of tranny and differential stuff that is designed for racing. Some of the stuff is really big bucks, like front-end limited slip diffs. They have a whole slew of tranny gears in all kinds of ratios that were designed to withstand 400+hp drag launches. You might give the site a try if only to see what is available.

Hey I found a tranny out of a 92 turbo legacy the guy wants 850$ Comes with a 90 day warranty. I honestly haven't done enough tranny shopping to know if that is a good deal or not.
