Re: Phenolic Intake Manifold and TB spacers for the SVX/EG33 coming soon

Just placed an order on your website for the full set.

Hopefully you have a set of instructions for me to do the install

Re: Phenolic Intake Manifold and TB spacers for the SVX/EG33 coming soon

Thanks man!
I should have instructions done when I finally install mine, which will be pretty soon.

It is really not very difficult compared to how it may look. The hardest part is just the PITA that the fuel lines are because you have to keep the fuel from getting everywhere. That and some patience in undoing the harness connectors, is the worst of it.

Thoughts on the following EGR tube ideas:

1. Cut the EGR tube and weld in another section of same diameter pipe (not sure if the material would hold up to that)

2. Cut the pipe and put in a silicone hose held on with hose clamps

No need to cut anything.

Just get a piece of chain, and a prybar or large screwdriver.

Put the chain around the end of the tube and through the screwdriver end. Then put the screwdriver next to the EGR sensor and pry/bend the tube upwards until it gets close enough where you can get the bolts in.

It is a bit crude, but it worked for me.

Here is the crappy video I took. The sound is totally crap, sorry about that..

The video def helped to explain what you were doing. I will just have to wait until the rest of the manifold is on before I get to this then.

The new Subiechips chips are built on JDM firmware and allow you do an EGR delete without triggering the check engine light.

Some early 93s did not have the EGR sensor on the back passenger side intake manifold, so those with out the sensor should be fine.

So the listings on Ebay are a continuation of where your chips left off, LAN? I saw them a couple of days ago while I was on Ebay, but was weary of their whereabouts.

Re: Phenolic Intake Manifold and TB spacers for the SVX/EG33 coming soon

So what seems to be the new average temperature at idle with the spacers installed??

I feel like my manifold is running too hot but I want some data points.

Not sure if I am answering your question, but on a "normal" 3.3 both the intake manifold and the top of the block run about 200°f.
On my ceramic coated, heat vented manifold with FOUR spacers runs at about 140°f as I remember.
Feel free to look up old posts and tell me that I am wrong.

^ Your never wrong

Yeah thats what I was asking. I need to bust out the infrared thermometer and get an exact reading but that sounds pretty close.

When I say this in my head it sounds like, The Terminator!

"ceramic coated, heat vented manifold with FOUR spacers"

The Terminator: [picking up guns] The 12-gauge auto-loader.

Pawn Shop Clerk: That's Italian. You can go pump or auto.

[Hands the Terminator the pump action shotgun]

The Terminator: The .45 long slide, with laser sighting.

Pawn Shop Clerk: [Hands the Terminator a .45 gun] These are brand new; we just got them in. That's a good gun. Just touch the trigger, the beam comes on and you put the red dot where you want the bullet to go. You can't miss. Anything else?

The Terminator: Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.

Pawn Shop Clerk: Hey, just what you see, pal!

The Terminator: [Looks around] The Uzi nine millimeter.

Pawn Shop Clerk: You know your weapons, buddy. Any one of these is ideal for home defense. So uh, which will it be?

Tom + White Russian + TV ON = The above statement

So I took the car for its first flogging after adding the spacers. She felt great and I hope that she is OK after temporarily getting a code 56. After driving for about 30 minutes on back roads and highway I pulled into the garage, popped the hood and took the following temperature readings (Note it was about 65 last night during the test)

Directly above each intake the temperature was about 120 F. I will do another test when it gets hotter for comparison.

Stevesby:

Any plans to make another batch. If so, sign me up. I have a '94, so won't need EGR block. Will try to get EGR tube reconnected somehow.
