build my own s/c
ive been looking at my leaf blower, its a 200mph one and gas.. its way of spooling up air is exactly like a turbo... im going to buy a 225mph electric one, shave it down, put a air filter on and hook it up to my battery, probably a yellow top... i will tell anyone if it works... , any precations i should keep in mind?? if i do... just maby get 5 or more psi.. then will i have to get an impreza f.p.r so it will mix better??

but anyway, can you really get it small enough to cram it under the hood? I don't want to see you waste your money but I'm also sortof curious to see what you end up with. You may need a high amp inverter for that idea. If it doesn't work it'll be hilarious to try to return the blower all hacked up

Seriously man, no offense but your ideas are off the wall, what's your reasoning/theory behind all of this?

c'mon guys.
It may seam ridiculous, but it is trial and error and the things you learn along the way. Please don't take offense Myxalplyx, but I'm gonna use you as an example. He had a rough start with his ideas, but he ended up with a design that showed some real impressive gains in the end.

This has been tried, and failed, a million times before on countless other vehicles. It has been shown that you can alter a motors VE with it, but in reality gain no appreciable power.
The problem lies in the blowers. They either flow lots of volume at no pressure, or can build 1-2 psi at negligible volume(less than 150cfm). Neither suit an engine at all. The only way you're going to see anything appreciable is to make this using a brushless motor/controller system using a 20-30K rpm motor with about 2-3hp and build it onto an actual turbocharger compressor housing with a compressor wheel that can both build pressure and provide flow. This has worked before, but the mass of required batteries to make the system work and their weight penalty far outweigh the 10-15hp gain that was noticed. I'd feel better about you welding turbochargers directly to your OEM headers than proceeding further with this. |

the thing i do not understand about this whole setup is that everything else is stock, namely the MAF, the MAF can only read a certain amount of air volume so pushes more through will not provide any benefit, not to mention the fuel is limited as well and the stock cams which hinder breathability...
