We thought of a way to wire the fogs seperately, but ran out of time.
I'm thinking of a stand alone switch and running power to the fog ballast through diodes.

You know my regular driver is my small mazda, that thing has single bulb for low/hi beam. Since that's my daily drive, if I get a pair for that car...when I start driving my SVX more next time, I wonder can I move my ballasts to the SVX and get the different HID bulbs and put them with my SVX.

If I were you, I would do LEDs tail lights/signal lights, all HID bulbs and even the HID reverse lights

One of the other questions that came to mind was concerning the diminished heat output of the HID bulbs.

My lenses were frosted over in WV last weekend. I turned on the HID low beams and my normal halogen hi beams as well. After a few minutes, the heat from the halogen hi-beams had melted the frost completely, while the area in front of the HIDs were still frosted over.

I am wondering how these HIDs (low beams and fog) will function when driving in winter weather with ice, snow or freezing rain. Will the lenses be warm enough to keep the precipitation from freezing? Normally, they got hot enough to melt whatever touched them. I guess all other HID systems have the same problem.

Might be spraying a lot of de-icer on the headlight shields this winter...

I got a PM from Rinus, the guy in the Netherlands, the other day, regarding the HID's we sent him. It turns out that they don't work in the European SVX's, more correctly, they don't fit. I didn't get to ask him exactly what the problem was, but anyone who has the European version, check to see what bulbs it has and/or how they go in and let us know so that we can figure out a workaround.

Fortunately, Rinus' mechanic has an American version and bought the lights from Rinus and installed them in his own car.

Anyway, just a warning for anyone who is thinking about upgrading to the HID's and has a different build than we do here in the States -- check to make sure our 9006's will work in your car!

The European headlight assemblies do not use the 9005/9006 bulbs. They use the old halogen H3/H4 bulbs. See this diagram I received from one of my German friends when trying to get German glass headlights.

If I recall correctly, the low beam for the headlight assemblies has a bulb adapter held in place with three Phillips head screws for either a H4 or the 9006 so that could be quickly swapped.

Worth checking out.

I hope you guys are careful with the HIDs installed as fog lamps or brights! having them in a projector housing is bad enough, (in my opinion a retrofitted projector housing with an arc discharge capsule is better than a factory reflector style HID setup) but the changing from a halogen with a transverse filament to an arc discharge capsule could really cause some serious glare to other drivers. I have also noticed in cars (other than the SVX) that a retrofitted reflector style light ends up with the same or worse distance light but dramatically increased light output out the sides of the light. Having HID low beams and fogs must be crazy bright, and has gotta be blinding! The fluting on the polycarbonate shield should also deflect some of the light, but i don't know if it is better or worse.

I dont think that would be feasible due to the warm-up time required from the HIDs. I don't think that anyone uses their blinker enough to benefit from the added output that you can effectively achieve by coming up wtih an LED solution.

Now I'm all ears if someone can make our reverse lights brighter

Our stock reverse light bulbs are #1156 with 27 watts.
I bought a set of 50 watt bulbs at WalMart for about $6.00 years ago.

I bought some 50 watt lights that work great too. I bought them some other place than WalMart. They work great.
