Now that I don't have to worry about ruining the surprise, I can comment on the product/installation.
The kit was easy to install, if I wouldn't have decided to sand and polish the headlights while I was at it, it would have taken less than 1/2 an hour.

The lights make a huge difference, I've slowly been adjusting them to get the most benefit without blinding others. I've found that I have them a little higher than the stock bulbs, I'm guessing that this has to do with the sharp cut off of the HID's???

For installation I removed the headlights and used the bolt that fastens the fender to the rad support. Real easy, real quick.

That's where I put mine, I used the little mounting plate that came with it.

I still love them. Every morning on the 5:30 AM drive to work I smile at the brilliant white light.

Thanks OT!

This was brought up on another forum I frequent... someone started a thread about wether HID conversions were useful or not, and it erupted into argument that they were all illegal and dangerous and useless and blah blah blah because halogens don't have projector housings.

When I brought up cars that do have projector housings (like ours), they still said that the optics were totally wrong because it was missing some cutoff thing or another. I was about to ignore it when someone posted this link.

I read the whole thing and it made me wonder... Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Oh god, the pun.

Can't imagine why not not We could certainly adjust them as low as needed so not to bother oncoming drivers. I would think the people that have already put them on their SVX's would know if distance vision is diminished?
The fellow on the above link sells all kind of lites except HID's so maybe he isn't pushing HID's to miss a sale. If anyone has problems with the new HID's, maybe they can come forward and fess up! We could promise not to laugh at them!!
I know for sure that I wouldn't laugh a bit

I wanna bother everyone ... I want to adjust them at the level of the rear view mirrors of all cars...

I have had a set for some time now and love them. I have never been flashed, so I would expect that they don't bother anyone, and I can see great.

YES.. he is right, even in projector type, the optics are way different between Halogen and HIDs (for example, my Alfa is having different projector housings for halogen type and HIDs seperately). But that doesn't mean you should not use HIDs in halogen type projector housings. You can always adjust them so that it wont bother others on the road even though you are not able to use its 100% light efficiently. But come on its way way better than stock halogens.

But I agree that replacing halogens with HIDs in a reflector type housing is not safe.
