Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Mine does not work. Wipers sit in the same place regardless of position of switch.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Yeah, except they do the funky pause thing if the switch is flipped one way, and they don't do it if it's switched to the other, but the parking position does not change.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Ditto. Although thanks to the miracle that is RainX, I almost never have to use my wipers when it's raining.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Only change to winter setting when frost or ice will form on the windshield. I also use rainx, so don't use the wipers much.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
I never change the setting on mine. Winter precip isn't much of an issue here.
On my silver it was a minor hassle manually adjusting the driver's side wiper arm so that it didn't whack the A-pillar on the upswing. (Eventually it did that with such force the blade assembly actually snapped apart.) I've finally gotten it to an acceptable medium, but as someone else noted, aftermarket wipers resting hard on the stop warp right in the center. Oh well; I buy new blade assemblies every 18 months or so anyway. dcb |

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Yeah, I prefer to leave mine on winter setting all year.
I don't like the way the wiper blade is dragged over the lip of the screen in summer mode. I still have the original blades with the lifter bump, but even with this the rubber portion of the wiper strip gets dragged out of shape. For this reason I usually leave it at winter setting. You should also take note that wear in the linkage causes the range of travel to extend, and this exacerbates the banging off the vertical screen edge as the wiper mechanism gets older. Joe

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
Since I just drove my car for the first time yesterday I had no idea that there was such a switch/option. I will have to check when I get home tonight. I was planning on going through the manual tonight as I noticed a bunch of switches that I was unsure what they did like the "Security" button to left of the steering wheel etc...
Thanks for the post/tip. Max |

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
I'm glad to know that at least thats one thing that works perfectly in my car. The wipers always stop in the same place at the top of the swing and mine don't do that delay thing you guys talk about.

Re: Winter Wiper Setting
When my wipers didn't switch right, it turned out to be the under-dash wiring plug was loose. It had come off only on one side so some features still worked. It's the splice connector just above the brake pedal. I think it was 5, maybe 6, wires in a big 3-4 inch connector. I thought, this seems a bit loose. Pushed it hard together, and they've worked fine since. I think it might get hit with feet at times.

I might try them. The OEM blades are OK, but not great. It would be good to keep an original set for shows, rather than everyday use. Any set I ordered off Subaru usually came as a standard replacement [same arm fitment, same length] but without the original SVX equipment "lifter". I don't think they make them any more. Joe
