Re: Cumberland AX Sept 19 and 20.

Its a step in the right direction for me. First auto-x running the Hydra. I finally can say, the car is getting really fast. Unfortunately, this happened, but for my next engine I assemble I will likely use stock pistons with Pauter or Eagle Rods to keep this from happening again. This way the cylinder heads I build with a set of Web cams will help the engine continue making power in the upper RPM's and hopefully with all things considered avoid spinning a bearing and causing something like this to happen to a much more expensive engine

That, and a healthy dose of trans shifting to keep the engine off of "pegged on the red line"

Racer in its full glory.

The Shadow Machine... and a happy Bart behind the wheel. (maybe he knew what is going to happen?!

Before (still seems a bit rich IMO)

After... rod bearing = bye bye?

Jerry taking the Racer (without PS!) through the final turn.

YT raced OT's car.

Because someone regressed with the spring set up by going back to cut stock springs based on some rocket boys pipe dreams.

Besides, who was the one who got nicknamed wally because he had difficulty avoiding a 300 foot long brick wall with such body lean. Can you image what it is like to simply break that rear at every turn around a course?

Snap steer, Ben, snap steer...

and no, the lower control arm should not be pointing toward the sky in a static load condition (note: I'm not saying the cut down stock springs are optimal, but at least they provide the correct suspension geometry )

Hey, breaking the rear at every turn has to be fun!

-Bill

p.s. It would be interesting to see what a larger front sway bar would do on the Racer....

Correct equals a faster time which that set up did by far and no it isn't pointing down when you hit the gas. It was dead flat (which is exactly where you want it in).

You wouldn't want to know about breaking the rear at every turn. I did it on my way to work this morning as it was slightly damp out. At least lowering to pressure to the factory spec of 24 rear 22 front has seemed to make the bumps a little less painful

Yes, I regressed to the stock springs, with the front cut one loop, but it was on MY pipe dreams.
I am going to make some mistakes.
But I am trying to make it better.
And the best way to do that is to change everything at once so you have absolutely no idea WTF happened?!
