Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

Yes, there are plans. I'm working on buying a car long distance this week, so that's taking up a good chunk of my freetime, but possibly next week I'll start another buy.

So yes, another buy is coming up! The price will be the same I'm sure, so start saving your pennies, sheckles, lira, pounds, whatever!

*edit*

I just noticed that this was my 1,111th post, and it's on page 11! Now only if I'd posted this yesterday...

I do not yet know when my inherited SVX will come to me, but when it does I want to be in the loop for this.

Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

Well, this is going to be in the works soon, but I'm trying to find an endlink better suited to what we're doing here.

I have found a couple of OEM style links that I think will work, but in the buy there will be an option of race or street links. Metal on metal (the links currently used) work AWESOME but they make plenty of noise, and if you're not expecting it, it can be annoying. So, I want to have a good solution before I do the next buy. I should know by early next week as to what I'll be using.

What do you guys think of that?

Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

I'll probably want another bar for my '97 I just got.
The noise you speak of, is it a rattling sound when going over small bumps. It started a little while after installing the bar on my '92 Ebony.

How about just a stiff rubber washer (akin to what you put into a garden hose) between the conical metal bushing and the bar or something similar? The garden hose washers are like 10 for $1 .

What kind of noises are to be expected? I noticed more of a knocking or clacking sound, but was thinking it was a loose strut mount when going over bumps. Would the end links make a sound similar to this?

In the worst case it sounds like your shock tops have been left loose, on others it is a slight barely noticable ticking, over road imperfections.

Re: Bontrager Works 22mm rear sway bar kit

and here I thought my shock tops were loose!
I don't mind the noise a bit. I've been ignoring all of my other squeaks and rattles for a long time now. It is nice to know it is normal and my shock tops aren't falling apart.

Immortal, we have to meet up some time so I can check out your ebony. You have all the mods that I am interested in getting in the near future. Plus have you ever seen another svx here in G'vegas?

That's exactly what I'm hearing. I did my rear struts at about the same time and I thought the mounts had somehow come loose. I wish I'd known about this noise issue sooner, it's been really bugging me.
Definately a big downside to this mod. I think I'll leave the '97 stock until it's resolved.
