Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Another 500km trip, Hamilton to New Plymouth. Got to love Mount Messenger.

Finally fitted my BBS wheels and replacement tyres.
Drives much nicer, the old tyres were well past their useful life span.

Paid someone smarter than me to fit a new alarm with remote start.
Seems to be very rare to see remote start cars in New Zealand. Don't know why, certainly couldn't buy a reputable brand alarm / starter kit locally from a dealer.
Ended up importing an Avital made by Directed Electronics (aka Clifford, Viper et al)

Still have to put my dash back to together. It's been dangling around my knees for the past 6 months now.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I changed the oil to for the Forester and spark plugs for the Outback, which was actually easier than with the Forester. A little bit more space available even with the EZ30R.

The SVX is off the road for the winter, so it's stored on the lift..... had to reverse it out for the work above. Really hard to get it back inside the garage on summer tires - we just got 8" of snow .

So what kind of bikes are hiding under those covers?

A 1986 VFR, a 2008 Varadero, a 2011 Duke and a 2013 NCX with the dual clutch tranny. An automatic bike is a cool ride :-).

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Replaced the rear speaker with a couple of nice kicker units. Speakers were too tall to fit under the package tray without trimming, so I just installed them from the bottom. Worked perfectly and no modification to the factory equipment.

Also if anyone knows where I could pick up a couple of good speaker grills for the rear package tray, that would be awesome.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Broke out the way back machine and fixed my ac, defrost wasn't working well. Evacuated the system, replaced leaking valves, vacuumed it out, filled it up with 28oz of r12. Works great.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

That's what I call my old r12 evacuation/recharge machine. Calling it this gets me out of long explanations about the history of refrigerants and the environment when someone asks what it does.

I just want to go back in time and fix things.
Maybe have a heart felt talk with someone, and maybe rip out someones adams apple, crush their head and feed them to the pigs.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Recent updates:

- Group N motor mounts
- "New" TPS
- New coolant temp sensor
- Re-shimmed 3.90 rear diff
- New exhaust gaskets
- Poly rear diff bushing inserts

Coming soon:

- 1 piece driveshaft
- Replace front passenger ABS sensor
- Pray to God that the mapVSS wheel speed interpreter works with the SVX abs system.

Also need to figure out why my cooling fans are running all the time (with AC on or off). They run with the new or the old CTS installed. Connection seems good. Gonna start poking things with a multimeter to check voltages. Unless there's some relay or module that is telling them to run all the time.
