4.44 transmission?
Hey, I found a automatic transmission out of a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback with semi low miles. The owner hasn't got me the transmission indentification code yet, but I was curious if this transmission was a 4.44? I just want to be sure before I go buy it. Thanks

Yes it's a 4.44, BUT check to see if it has a spin on trans filter, on the drivers side, behind the bell housing.
If it does it will not work with our TCU, as far as anyone knows.

Well buying the first transmission I mentioned fell threw, but I found another one. It is out of a 1998 Impreza 2.5rs. I believe it is a 4.44 transmission as well. Anyone know for sure? I gonna run the transmission code past Subaru tomarrow and see what they say. I would also like to know what all do I need to buy to do the swap? I like to make sure I have eveything I need to complete the job before I start it. What torque converter do you use,all electronics plug and play, etc? Any help would be great. Thanks
List of thing I know I need so far: 4.44 transmission New transmission fluid New external/internal filters and pan gasket SVX LSD rear diff 4.44 rear diff |
