Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Both struts are blown, the one mounts got a hole in it, and the other just collapsed itself the whole way around. Maybe that's why it wouldn't line up for the previous owner.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Drove out to Palm Dessert and met with David (dromano) for lunch.
It was a good time. We had good food, good conversation, and took some photos of our SVXs together.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Spent a good part of Wednesday rebuilding the knuckle in the Legacy shift linkage. The original bushings were literally "gone", allowing the shifter to wobble around, actually moving as much as 6" to either side, while in gear. Very distracting having it move of its own accord every time it took a corner. Also replaced the nylon ball on shifter end, worn quite a bit as well, after 236K miles. Hardest part of the exercise was driving out the roll pin that held the whole thing together, above the driveline and exhaust. Did I mention it was 95 degrees in the shade yesterday?

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I just finished replacing the spark plugs. Thank God for the hole in the wheel well! I couldn't find my spark plug sockets, so I used a standard socket set. After all was done, My wife found my spark plug socket set in the dining room! Don't ask

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally got the new brake lines onto the front of my car (thanks for the picture, Dannmarr!). Now I just have to tackle the back....

Need more PB Blaster!

But on the bright side, she's not loosing brake fluid anymore! I shocked a friend with how quick the SVX stops when we tested them last night.

Haha! No Worries Huck, I haven't taken the videos you took while I was driving off my phone either. We'll get them swapped sooner or later.

Maybe you can save them as a reason to come back up this way (or Back to Reading!!)

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

finally got around to replacing one of my front struts (going to do the other tomorrow the car is so much better to drive now...no bouncing not as much lean and no more rattling the strut was useless no resistance left at all...you could hold one end of it and swing it like one of those light sabers and it would fully extend oh and i replaced the upper mount which wasn't even attached anymore

gotta love these cars

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Not today but 2 days ago tightened up all the spark plugs , recharged the AC still leaking, ordered all new 0 rings from Subaru. Surprised less than $2 each.
