how to change ignition light colors

i did them the day after i changed the other lights but haven't had the chance to do a write up or take pics and i also did the cigar lighter light red to but mine looks pretty good with all the lights red now. the only thing left is the gear selector,window switch, and if i ever fix the key hole light that will be red

i'll do a write up when my car is done so don't worry the cigar lighter the only way to get that out easy is to break it out then reglue it back unless you like ripping the whole entire dash apart.the light is in the bottom i just cut the old light out and out in an led light from advance auto they come in a 4 pack , i can't think of the name though

What I would really like to be able to do is put lights in all of the window switches. My passengers can never find them at night.

so with reference to the ignition bulb if you replace the exsisting one with a led, and don't wire to the foot light bulb will it stay on the whole time the car is on??? also, would it turn off when you turn the car off? another question, what size and power rating led did you use for the ignition switch?? Then my other question is if i'm going to be pulling the ac controls and everything out anyway would it be easy to get it out after that???

Has anyone written a "how to" on replacing the lights in the dash?

I read one thread which mentioned using a butterknife and a cloth but it wasn't too clear on how exactly to pry those switches off, without the risk of denting/breaking their edges. When I try to pull one side, the other side refuses to come out - so I essentially ending playing see-saw with the darn thing. Maybe I need a pick set of sorts?

jonybeas, i replaced my existing bulb (cut off) with LED's from advance auto which came in a pack of 4 for 10$( located in the "rice" neon lights section). when i cut mine it wouldn't shut off so i rewired the led to the foot lamp( don't know why i wouldn't go off) if you have the light stay on wire it to the foot light and it will simply dim off with the other lights. Your second question, it doesn't really matter what you do first, i did my ignition then tore out my ac control

Cozykat, i have already did my dash lights (the push button ones) all i did was take out the green caps off the lights and popped the button face off and poured a genorous amount of stained glass paint on the inside, the inside off the button face is whit so cover the whole bottom whatever color you whant asnd it will be that color without changing out the lights

i've done climate... sortof, never finished it... and it was in fact the keyhole ring that got me started. ALL BLUE... the easiest way to do it (and this may help you guys with that dim red) I did it by wiring in my own leds with their own leads. just secure them where you need. as far as the two-color LED goes, I had the ultra-bright blue leds epoxied to the back with a red right next to it, both projecting into the cavity, the leads allow the button to move in and out... just ditch the post. The blue letters are tough... you'll need to dremle most of the green tinted polyoff the back and lightly tint it in addition to adding hyperblue (REAL BRIGHT) leds... eliminated alot of the "teal"... the point at which I stoped working on this was when I got to the numbers display, I did wire in leds for the red and blue up/down... but never finished the display... may not either, as I've got another idea now...

BTW, you'll want to do all this on a spare HVAC unit

i didn't dremel any of the green off, just scuffed it with some 180 grit so it could stick which gives my interior lights a blood red look.........damn i need to take newer better pics
