If you are using 2" pipe then get a 2bolt flange for each side meant to fit a 2" tube. I forget what the spacing is for the bolts... maybe svxfiles will know off hand

When welding the aluminized steel, is it any different than welding normal steel exhaust pipes? Will I need a special welder or anything?

Try to do your best in wirebrushing/wire wheel the joints you are welding. Removing the aluminied coating makes it much easier to weld.

Changed my mind again and I'm getting it done by a reputable shop by me. Figured since my boss is good friends with the owner of the shop he can get me a nice discount. That and now for some reason I have a nasty buzzing coming from the tips at 2500+ rpms.

just saw this thread thought id ad my 2 cents.
has anybody ever ran two 2.5 inch(or whatever the opening is on the headers or exhaust manifolds) pipes all the way back? no cats, maby mufflers. just a thought. then it would really be dual exaust right.
you would just have to put it on right after you passed emissions.
ive seen people do that with tuners. bout as loud as you can get.

Well, I dont think having true duals in a six cylinder engine would help on performance, I think it actually lose a lot of backpressure.

On V8 engines you can do true duals but still you have you usea an X pipe to help the gases from one side go out faster with the gases from the other side. Not to mention there's not a lot of room under the SVX to run 2 pipes.

My opinion.

no backpressure? does it loose any preformance. how does it sound.

im not a tuner or anything, why would you want backpressure?(serious question, not sarcasum)
i heard of needing backpressure on gocarts and such but not cars.

FI (Forced Inductions-turbo/supercharger) engines run better with minimal back pressure, because the goal is to flow as much air as you can with as little impediment as possible. Normally aspirated engines benefit from some in it's done properly.

Go-Karts used tuned exhausts (that big cone shaped muffler), which is meant to reflect the pressure from the exhaust stroke back toward the engine and have it give the pistons an extra shove by entering the cylinder while the exhaust valve is still open.

Has anyone tested to see if the Legacy GT cat-back meets up at all. Even just the axle-back maybe? I don't know I just want something other than a GIANT Camero looking muffler in the back. Makes it hard to get a jack under there.

What they call it a vanity-plate. Shouldn't I be obligated to be vane with it?

I drove mine around the block a couple times with dual 2" res to 2.5 exiting cat... loud as hell, would scare a shelby off the road... but no power. finished the rest of the system, got it all back!

Our racer has no backpressure what-so-ever and it pulls like a semi... enough to induce 10" wide race tires to spin on all 4s through 1st and part of 2nd if you don't launch right.
