5mt swap problems - very angry right now.
Okay, for those in the know, please help me out.
Problem 1 - Those stupid ass spring clips that hold the throw-out bearing to the shift fork. THEY COME FREE!!! damn things don't do their job. I've been 2/3 of the way through the install twice now when the damn things come skipping out of the bottom of the transmission. How do I make them stay in there and do their job? Problem 2 - Anybody ever had clearance issues with their tunnel? The tranny I'm installing, which is out of a 99 Impreza Outback, hits the drivers side of the tunnel when there is still about 1/2 inch gap between motor and tranny. Once I get the tranny back out I'm going to beat the tunnel wall with a hammer to gain me clearance. i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem before or if they had any other clearance issues. Problem 3 - The svx rear diff is off to the passenger side. The tranny that i'm installing seems to have it's rear shaft located toward the drivers side, anybody ever had this problem? Am I merely crazy and it will all line up? I'm putting it in anyway and I'll let the u-joints deal with it. Once again, just wondering. Thanks guys. |
