Re: Comments you hear

Today.. "are those wheels 24 carat or just the 18 carat ones?" ...might be time to get them repainted.

Re: Comments you hear

The most annoying comments: "It's broken again?" or
"When are you gonna get rid of it?" or "Why pay for insurance when it's always at the shop?" They just don't understand.

Re: Comments you hear

Today, at gas station. My car is in the washing hall. Big truck pulls into the station and just stops dead in front of an exit. Driver comes over:

Truck Driver: Is that your car?
Me: Yes. An SVX.
Truck Driver: I know. It's my dream car.

So then we chatted a bit about common failures, prices and he said he wanted a twin turbo off Ebay. Turns out he'd seen me driving around and just pulled over when he saw me parked. Then came another truck driver and told him to move away so the other trucks could exit the station. He took some pictures. Nice guy

Re: Comments you hear

I guess they are compliments in a twisted way but, it's many a drive in town when a ricer or American muscle car doesn't pull up and try to bait you into a stoplight run. The price of living in a city that is a university town and home of the Gator Nationals.

Re: Comments you hear

^This is true in Tampa too...

Moreso with my white one than with my blue one though. Now that it doesn't happen as much, I kind of miss it.

Re: Comments you hear

Was in the garage with the door open, working on my blast cabinet. The SVX was at the end of the driveway, and a couple of the neighborhood kids went by on the way to the convenience store a short ways down the road. One of them said to the other "that's SUCH a cool car." Yes they are .

Re: Comments you hear

Unfortunately my SVX is three colors(silver, black,& blue) at the moment, the comments I hear beside the normal "What kind of car is that?" is "You mean it's not supposed to be three colors?". I've even had that comment from several body shops, I guess the car is so different looking that three colors looks normal on it

Re: Comments you hear

"worth about 1200 now"!!!!

Mine is pretty nice, not perfect but damned nice. It is the 93 AE edition. After I get some dents taken out of it, it will be even better.

You guys thinking that $4900 is too high for these cars are nuts!!

Last year mine was invited to a pretty exclusive car show and I am sure mine was the only car there worth less than $15000....many $100 grand or more. Why was it asked to be in with such other high dollar stuff? Because it is rare, pretty and most people don't know much about them (even car guys)

One of the judges for the show went nuts over the car even before I got it into position. He knows me but did NOT know the car was mine at the time. When he realized who owned it and that he now had access to it, he was all over it and wanted to know where I found such a nice example. It actually caused quite a stir....drew many people over to look at it. Because it was something nobody there even knew of someone that owned one...ever! Lots of pictures were taken of it.

Did I win a trophy...well no I didn't. Did I have fun? You betcha!!! Now I am an old fart that has had a lot of rare cars over the years. I even judge a car show or two and have put on car shows myself.

The guy that invited me, had a hunch that the car would be appreciated...that is why he wanted it there. You can't buy that kind of appreciation for less than $20 to $30 grand these days. They are great cars and should be going UP in value for the nice ones. I would not take $10 grand for mine, knowing what it would cost to replace it with something that was equally as eye catching and rare as this is. I have had mine for 5 years now and have no plans on selling it anytime soon. I just can't afford to, not if I want something worthy of car show invitations.

Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.
Dave

Re: Comments you hear

People often think it's from the current model year, and are shocked to find out how old it is. But last week some old guy yelled out appreciatively to me, "That's an antique!"
