Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Sunday: Day two of racing
Saturday: Day one of racing
Friday: Going to where I'm going to be racing
Thursday: Find out why the freakin' car won't start with the two biggest events of the season on the horizon, when it could have done this in the six weeks just passed which had no events to speak of among them.

Incidentally, it runs now. A set of plugs and a fuel filter later, it's ready to wreck some cones at the airstrip.

My 5 mile commute to work probably contributed heavily to this:

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally finished (mostly) my 5sp swap. Time for my left foot to wake up I guess. Still got to find a good shifter knob and boot.

Congrats on the swap, how did it go?

A humble recommendation:

The grey leather of a 3000gt is a close match to our grey. I was unable to find a grey shift knob when I looked months ago.

I am very happy with my black STi stuff, though it could match the grey better. I ended up just adding more black (steering wheel, carbon fiber vinyl wrap over the wood grain, etc). I think it comes together nicely now, but I'd really like to get some more black in there. Black carpet would probably help too.

Thank you. It went quite smooth considering I've never done anything like that before. Still have an issue with the exhaust clearing the crossmember I made. I made my own "short shifter" by moving the bracket where the shift rod mounts up a little bit (might be a little too "short" now ). A few other minor snags here and there, but not that bad.

I'll have some pics of the electrical up soon. I took them on my phone and it has since died badly. I'll have to take some more. (I'll put them in this more relevent thread: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...ghlight=wiring

That knob and boot does look good, I'll consider it. I would like to get rid of the fake wood too, but I don't like to look of the overlays. I thought about painting it, maybe going for a brushed aluminum color, then lots of black trim. Then I'd have a black knob and boot. I'm just going to make sure it's fully functional right now. I've only driven it around the block so far.

Not sure if you saw this. I think I'll do my truck first to see how good it turns out then maybe both SVXi.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Just did the first wax job (no, not whack job ;-) on my 92 Ebony after the new paint job. Used Meguiars NXT 2.0 Tech Wax, and after I post this I'm going to take the SVX out of the underground parking into the sunlight to see what it looks like. Fingers crossed.

Waiting for a new grille and silver BBS STi rims next, and then it should be close to complete. Nothing mechanical left to address.

I have a Quick Change Shift Kit that I am undecided about installing. Opinions re: its installation are welcome.

Dropped it off for PA State Inspection, on the way over the tensioner for the PS and Alternator came loose and the belt off.

That is my situation.

I installed the TCU from ECUTune. I am not sure I want to install the QC kit in addition, tho' I've been told they are complementary.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

They will work fine together. You'll really only notice the QC when you really hit the gas, so if you're not the type that's on the throttle a lot, then you might want to pass. But if you get a kick out of a nice, firm shift at WOT, at redline that jerks you back into the seat, then you'll enjoy it.
